Title: Rumble
Publisher: Image
Issue No.: 11
Creative Team: John Arcudi – Writer : David Rubín – Artist & Cover Artist : Dave Stewart – Colorist : Kevin Nowlan & Keith Pollard – Variant Cover Artists
Rumble returns this week for its third story arc. Beginning this issue Image Comics have got legendary black comics artists to contribute colour variant covers for the series. Artists Sanford Greene, Arvell Jones, Keith Pollard, Ron Wilson, and Chris Brunner have each created a cover so look out for those variants on future issues. If your a fan of American Gods then this series may be for you. It’s a comic that’s hard to sum up, but if a story about a scarecrow monster with a giant sword, his quest for vengeance, and the hapless humans who get caught up in the ensuing battle sounds like the comic for you then you will certainly get your monies worth here.
From the Publisher:
“NOTE: All COVER As by RUBÍN in this story arc will be black & white. All COVER Bs in this story arc will be full color. “LAST KNIGHT,” Part One Strange forces have unleashed the Four Scourge Knights of the Apocalypse, and somehow, Bobby LaRosa is mankind’s only hope. This issue also features a variant cover by comics great KEITH POLLARD, our first in a series of variant covers celebrating African American comics artists.“
Title: Spider-Man: Life Story
Publisher: Marvel
Issue No.: 2
Creative Team: Chip Zdarsky – Writer & Cover Artist : Mark Bagley – Artist : Michael Cho – Variant Cover Artist
This issue we arrive in the 1970s. The first issue certainly intrigued me and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the reality of each decade affects Peter and his family. I’m not sure the 70s in America was the same as the UK but with this being the decade of Punk and Star Wars it should be interesting to see what Chip and Mark do.
From the Publisher:
“CAN PETER AND GWEN FIND HAPPINESS IN THE 1970s?
The GREEN GOBLIN is out of their lives, but NORMAN OSBORN isn’t! Can PETER AND GWEN find happiness as the world of the 1970s dances on around them?“
Title: Little Bird
Publisher: Image
Issue No.: 2
Creative Team: Darcy Van Poelgeest – Writer : Ian Bertram – Artist & Cover Artist
I missed the boat with the first issue of this five part story. But after seeing the art created by Ian Bertram I’m not going to make that mistake again. Little Bird is an epic sci-fi/surreal drama that takes place in the distant future of North America, where an American theocratic government has steamrolled Canada in its expansion. Beautifully written and with sumptuous art you’d be daft to miss this one.
From the Publisher:
“Little Bird is reunited with her mother in a dreamscape where she begins to uncover the twisted roots of her family tree. Free after 30 years of imprisonment, The Axe once again takes the mantle as leader of the resistance and prepares to wage war against Bishop and his Northern Guard.”
Round Up
Also out this week are new issues from comics I recommend you start picking up including Mary Shelley Monsterhunter #1, Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt #4, Meet The Skrulls #3, Uncanny X-Men #16 and The War of the Realms #2.
