New Comic Book Day with Dead Eyes.
Time to pick up some new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics). These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store.
This week we get the first issue of Dead Eyes with all new material and we arrive at the final part of Collapser. I also recommend a bunch of other great comics to discover this week and you can find them all in my pull list below.
If all of these great comics aren’t enough for you then why not bolster your reading list by checking out some of my previous choices in the videos at the bottom of the page.
Title: Dead Eyes
Publisher: Image Comics
Issue No.: 3
Creative Team: Gerry Duggan – Writer : John McCrea – Artist & Cover Artist
After getting everyone back up to speed with the first two issues that reworked the previously seen Dead Rabbit material, issue three of Dead Eyes kicks off with all-new content. This is a great comic that showcases the extremely talented duo of Duggan and McCrea. This is not your usual vigilante comic – this features some quite real world problems and the combination of drama and tenderness displayed within it’s pages sets its apart from most other books in the genre.
From the Publisher:
“Dead Eyes just wanted to put on a mask, steal from the rich, and give to himself. But now his wife and his wheelman are in the hospital, and the mafia is closing in.
This issue contains ALL-NEW MATERIAL, guest starring laughing gas, an MRI machine, some pointy surgical instruments, some soft tissue of some bad men, and a depressed mafia boss.“
Title: Collapser
Publisher: DC’s Young Animal
Issue No.: 6
Creative Team: Shaun Simon & Mikey Way – Writers : Illias Kyriazis – Artist & Cover Artist
Whilst I am sad that this is the final issue I am glad that this has been a fabulous little book. As with all the other Young Animal books this comic has ticked all the right boxes for me. Quirky and weird but with heart and passion I’ve really enjoyed the journey I’ve taken with Liam and co. I’d not encountered Illias Kyriaszis art before this book but I’ll be keeping an eye on him as I’ve found his art detailed and expressive. I hope we get to see more from these creators soon and I look forward to whatever Young Animal is coming up with next.
From the Publisher:
“The final issue is here! With his supervillain father in possession of Liam’s black hole and reshaping the world into a fascist dystopia, the hero formerly known as Collapser must form a surprising alliance to save the world from his family’s terrible legacy-that is, if he doesn’t completely shut down in an implosion of panic first. Has Liam found the cure?“
