New Comic Book Day with Head Lopper.
How quickly Wednesday comes around! Get over the midweek hump by popping out to your local comic shop and grabbing yourself some comics. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks for the comics that will be available today from your local comic book store including Head Lopper and Wonder Twins. Plus a round up of other regular comics you should be reading.
Title: HEAD LOPPER
Publisher: Image
Issue No.: 11
Creative Team: Andrew MacLean – Writer, Artist & Cover Artist : Al Gofa – Variant Cover Artist
I’m a huge fan of Andrew MacLean’s Head Lopper series. The quarterly release schedule makes each new issue highly anticipated. We are now nearing the end of this third story arc and the series is going from strength to strength. Andrew’s art is fluid and detailed. The sword and sorcery story is fun and gripping. If you’ve yet to discover the delights of this comic I can’t recommend it highly enough.
From the Publisher:
“The Goblin horde is pushed back, but for how long? Dark messengers arrive in Venoriah. Taking advantage of the chaos of war, Florentine makes her moves.“
Title: WONDER TWINS
Publisher: DC Comics
Issue No.: 2
Creative Team: Mark Russell – Writer : Stephen Byrne – Artist & Cover Artist : Dustin Nguyen – Variant Cover Artist
The first issue of Wonder Twins was a massively entertaining read. Mark Russell knows how to write a good story. The comedy and relationships in the book are pitch perfect. His handling of the JLA characters reminded me of the Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis scripted JL:International which is praise indeed. Stephen Byrne continues to produce some of my favourite comic art. I love his animated film style and the colour work makes the art pop off the page. If all that wasn’t enough this issue debuts everyone’s favourite space chimp!
From the Publisher:
“After being exiled from their homeworld, alien, shape-shifting brother/sister duo Jayna and Zan take on the traditional Earth custom of a high school field trip…to a local LexCorp prison? If they’re being honest, their after-school assignment from the Justice League is what they’re really looking forward to: taking on vampiric menace Drunkula, a villain from the League of Annoyance! And what’s this guy the Scrambler up to, anyway? Plus: Gleek debuts!“
