Title: Little Bird
Publisher: Image
Issue No.: 3
Creative Team: Darcy Van Poelgeest – Writer : Ian Bertram – Artist & Cover Artist
I’ve been playing catch up on Little Bird and I’m very glad I have. This comic from Image is deftly written by Poelgeest, who is weaving a tale about more than just politics and place. Ian Bertram complements this multilayered story with art that is full of detail and style. His ability to take us from small emotional moments to wide screen action is a joy to behold. This series is created with real passion and I recommend you give it a try.
From the Publisher:
“Axe leaves Elder’s Hope to destroy Northern Guard, and Little Bird is left behind to take out a small team of enemy soldiers when she stumbles upon a family secret that changes everything.“
Title: Battlestar Galactica Classic
Publisher: Dynamite
Issue No.: 4
Creative Team: John Jackson Miller – Writer : Daniel HDR – Artist & Variant Cover Artist : Marco Rudy – Cover Artist & Variant Cover Artist
On TV in the UK when I was a kid were some marvellous shows. As a fan of Star Wars we were spoilt on a weekly basis with adventures in space. From Space: 1999 to Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century we had swashbuckling heroes and gorgeous spaceships. One of my favourites was Battlestar Galactica, with Battlestars, Vipers, Cylon Raiders and a health dose of Egyptian iconography. This series from Dynamite takes us back to those days and does a great job of capturing the feel of the show but updating it for a modern audience. Dynamite are putting out some great licensed books and if you fondly remember the adventures of Apollo and Starbuck you should pick up this book today.
From the Publisher:
“Commander Adama’s worst fears have been realized: Galactica has surrendered to a superior power. Now, Captain Apollo’s cleverness is all that stands between humanity and its final annihilation. That, and one of Starbuck’s wild schemes! New York Times bestselling author and comics writer JOHN JACKSON MILLER (Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo) and Daniel HDR (Red Sonja, Superman) continue their miniseries timed for Battlestar Galactica’s 40th anniversary year!“
Round Up
Also out this week are some other comics I recommend you take a look at, which this week is an all Marvel selection including The Immortal Hulk #17, Uncanny X-Men #18, War of the Realms #4, Spider-Man: Life Story #3 and War of the Realms Strikeforce: War Avengers #1.
