Thanks for joining me for this weeks new comics. I’m very pleased to say Star Trek vs The Transformers has been released next week, I am so looking forward to picking this one up. Here are Geeky Brummie’s other picks for the comics available today from your local comic book store including Heroes In Crisis and The Many Lives of Doctor Who.
Title: Star Trek vs The Transformers
Publisher: IDW
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: John Barber, Mike Johnson and Philip Murphy. Cover By Philip Murphy. Variant Covers by Derek Charm and Paulina Ganucheau.
I’ve been waiting for this with much excitement. It finally arrives today. Animated Star Trek and 80’s Animated Transformers meet in the crossover to beat all crossovers. A solid writing team and spot on artwork makes this easily my comic of the week.
From the Publisher:
“The Transformers ’80s cartoon series meets Star Trek: The Animated Series in a no-holds-barred Saturday Morning mash-up for the ages!
At the edge of Klingon space, the Starship Enterprise finds there’s more to the final frontier than meets the eye, when Kirk and his crew come face to face with the strangest life forms of all: Cybertronians! This unprecedented crossover brings together two of the greatest science fiction universes of all time-in the style of their classic animated series! A five-year mission meets a four-million-year war!
Written by two titans of their respective properties, John Barber (Optimus Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Transformers: Bumblebee Movie Prequel) and Mike Johnson (the most prolific Star Trek comic book writer of ALL TIME!)!
Philip Murphy’s A & B covers connect to form an amazing heroes and villains image ! “
Title: Heroes In Crisis
Publisher: DC Comics
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Tom King and Clay Mann. Cover by Clay Mann. Variant Cover by J.G. Jones, Mark Brooks and Francesco Mattina.
I’ve be following the career of Tom King for a while now. He has written some the best books to come out of DC in recent years. Now he’s taking on the latest Crisis event and I’m curious to find out how he handles the challenge. With fantastic art from Clay Mann this could be the event book of the year.
From the Publisher:
“There’s a new kind of crisis threatening the heroes of the DC Universe, ripped from real-world headlines by C.I.A.-operative-turned-comics-writer Tom King: How does a superhero handle PTSD? Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra-secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been
traumatized by crime-fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well-known operators as the prime suspects:
Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to investigate-but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition? “
