The Geeky Brummie Pull List with Superman: Space Age
It’s a more modest selection of comics on the Pull List this week. The first issue of Superman: Space Age from DC Comics is our Comic Of The Week, with the latest issues of Good Boy, I Hate This Place, Image!, Radiant Red, We Only Find Them When They’re Dead and The Amazing Spider-Man, and the debut issue of Book Of Shadows making up the rest of the list. In our On The Radar selection, we have 4 more comics from Marvel and Image Comics. And MEANWHILE… we take a look at the best of last weekends SDCC.
If you want to send any comics or comic related events we should feature, feel free to reach out to me at keith@geekybrummie.com.
Now on with the comics…
Superman: Space Age
Issue 1
DC Comics
Writer – Mark Russell
Artist – Michael Allred
Colourist – Laura Allred
Letterer – Dave Sharpe
Buy from Comixology – Superman: Space Age #1 (Link)
After years of standing idle, the young man from Krypton defies the wishes of his fathers to come out to the world as the first superhero of the Space Age. As each decade passes and each new danger emerges, he wonders if this is the one that will kill him and everyone he loves. Superman realizes that even good intentions are not without their backlash as the world around him transforms into a place as determined to destroy itself as he is to save it.
Mark Russell and the Allred’s together on a Superman book – how could I resist. This prestige format book looks worth every penny as some of my favourite creators come together to tell a Man of Steel story like no other. I’m so excited for this book.
Good Boy
Issue 3
Source Point Press
Writers – Christina Blanch and Garrett Gunn
Artist – Kit Wallis
Letterer – Dave Lentz
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Good Boy #3 (Link)
Flint and the Demon Dogs head “Home” to confront Tucker. With hopes of catching their former colleague off-guard on his home turf, Abraham calls in a favor to the greatest tracker in the business.
A comic about dogs. This is the comic I need this week. RIP Jack.
I Hate This Place
Issue 3
Image Comics
Writer – Kyle Starks
Artist – Artyom Topilin

At their wits’ end, Gabby and Trudy have called on the help of famous ghost hunter Dante Howitzer. But can he actually help with the mysterious and terrifying phenomena occupying this land? Or will he find out exactly why the woods are off limits?
This is a great book. The set up and characters are perfect and the art is superb. Don’t miss this one folks.

I love this anthology format with some regular strips and new stuff. This really showcases the kind of comics images put out and the wealth of really great comic creators that are out there.

With the job done, it’s time to get out-but as the plan crumbles around her and her worlds collide, Satomi will be forced to make a final impossible choice: Her old life? Or her new one?
Well, here we are at the end of this Radiant Red tale. It’s been a fun trip into the wider Radiant world and I’m now very likely to check out the sister titles.
We Only Find Them When They’re Dead
Issue 12

The third and final arc of this monumental sci-fi series continues with a flashback to a fateful death and new revelations about Honorhim Bristow and Dane Kahoe.
But things go awry in the DMZ, and their capture by a looming figure seems imminent…
More mind-blowing cosmic shenanigans with Ewing and Di Meo. We not head into the final arc of the story and I just can’t imagine where that is going to lead us.
Book Of Shadows
Issue 1
Valiant Comics

Shadowman. Punk Mambo. Eternal Warrior. Doctor Mirage. The supernatural protectors of the Valiant Universe unite for the very first time to stand against a terrifying ancient threat. No one is safe as Exarch Fane has his cold hands on the Book of Shadows.
Horror comics seem to be my jam at the moment, so it’s great to have Shadowman back in this team book. Valiant have assembled all their premier horror heroes to deal with a reality shaking threat. I expect great things from this book.

These have come from all kinds of sources, some official, some not, so don’t let the varying quality put you off. So sit back and enjoy the best of SDCC 2022.
