New Comic Book Day with The Dreaming.
Time to pick up some new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics). These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store.
It’s the first week of the new year and time to head out of the house again after the holidays. So your first port of call should be your local comic books store where The Dreaming #17 will be waiting for you. There are a few more comics worth picking up this week as well as one that somehow come out last week. So drive right in and find out what’s in store this week.
I also recommend a bunch of other great comics to discover this week and you can find them all in my pull list below.
If all of these great comics aren’t enough for you then why not bolster your reading list by checking out some of my previous choices in the videos at the bottom of the page.
Title: The Dreaming
Publisher: DC Black Label
Issue No.: 17
Creative Team: Simon Spurrier – Writer : Bilquis Evely – Artist : Yanick Paquette – Cover Artist
British writers have been having a great time in comics. It can’t be a coincidence that both The Dreaming and Hellblazer are amongst my favourite comics right now. The first time I read stories featuring these characters was in the mid to late 80s when Britain as going through something I thought we wouldn’t see again and yet here we are. The Dreaming, under the guidance of Simon Spurrier with art by Bilquis Evely, has tapped directly into what made the original Sandman so remarkable. This book is beautiful and timely. The new characters fit in perfectly and I hope Neil Gaiman is proud of what this folks are doing. Go pick up The Dreaming today.
From the Publisher:
“Wan’s takeover of Dream’s realm is nearly complete. As his identity slips away, Abel only has one secret left in his pocket. And poor, tortured Lucien, lost and without purpose, longs for nothing but release, and to return to the foundations of the Dreaming. So why can’t he go? Does he have a purpose yet to serve? If he wants to die…why must he continue to pay the high cost of living?“
My Pulls
In my pull this week we have Dial H for Hero #10, Grendel: Devil’s Odyssey #3, Hawkeye: Freefall #1, X-Men #4 and held over from last week the new Dr. Strange #1 with art by Kev Walker which puts it instantly on my must buy list.
