The Geeky Brummie Pull List with Dial H For Hero.
It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time to pick you the new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics) or Forbidden Planet. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store.
This week it’s the of the penultimate issue of Dial H for Hero #11 from DC’s Wonder Comics imprint that takes the top spot.
I also recommend a bunch of other great comics to discover this week including some more Marvel books and a new comic from Valiant that should be of interest and you can find them all in my pull list below.
If all of these great comics aren’t enough for you then why not bolster your reading list by checking out some of my previous choices in the videos at the bottom of the page.
Title: Dial H For Hero
Publisher: DC/Wonder Comics
Issue No.: 11
Creative Team: Sam Humphries – Writer : Joe Quinones – Artist & Cover Artist
Have you ever asked yourself ‘Why do comics exist?’. It’s a pretty big question. For me, comics exist to tell us stories about ourselves, about the world we live in and how we can make choices to make that world a better place. Comics challenge us to be better. Comics inspire us to make the right choices. Comics can make us heroes. This is exactly what Sam Humphries is doing in the pages of Dial H For Hero. He is asking us to look deep into ourselves, to make the right choices and be the heroes we know we can be. Joe Quinones has taken every iconic comic image and made us look again at what made those four colour adventures so appealing. Together they have created a comic that reminds us of all that has gone before and reinforces those ideals and dreams that we all had as kids. They are calling for us to look at the world around us and look for the truth, to challenge the lies and to help our fellow humans. They are calling for us all to become heroes even though we don’t have access to a Dial H. As we approach the final issue of this series I’m still impressed by how wonderful this book has been and I hope that you find out for yourselves why comics still hold the power to inspire.
From the Publisher:
“Miguel and Summer’s quest for the H-Dial takes them to the most dangerous place yet: Apokolips! But even with victory so close, Mr. Thunderbolt always has one more trick up his sleeve…“
