The Geeky Brummie Pull List with S.W.O.R.D
It’s a short but perfectly formed Pull List this week with only the excellent S.W.O.R.D. making the cut.
In Meanwhile… this week we pay tribute to fan-favourite Legion of Super-Heroes artist Steve Lightle.
Now on with the comics…

From the Publisher:
WHAT IS PROTOCOL V? The S.W.O.R.D. station is thrown in at the deep end of a planetary crisis as Krakoa battles the KING IN BLACK! While a cross-division team take on latex dragons from outer space, Abigail Brand prepares a deniable operation all her own. What is PROTOCOL V – and can the Earth survive it?
The first issue of this series really set the stage for what Al and Valerio want to do with this space borne series. Hopefully this King In Black tie-in issue doesn’t derail that too much. It’s great to see Abigail Brand back and I did fanboy just a bit when Lila Cheney appeared. Al can do no wrong write now and all the books he is writing are amongst the best on the shelves. I hope that he gets to do something here like he has over on The Immortal Hulk.
Farewell Steve Lightle
News arrived this week that fan-favourite Legion of Super-Heroes artist Steve Lightle has passed away from a heart-attack at the age of 61. His son Matthew broke the news via his Facebook page.
“This is Matthew Lightle, Steve Lightle’s son. This morning my father passed away from Cardiac Arrest. I wished to thank you all for your friendship to my father, and also to ask that if you are a patreon follower, please cancel your account as we are just beginning to take care of his affairs.”

Steve then took over Legion as artist from Keith Giffen in 1984, providing interior art for two years. He carried on providing covers for the book until 1988.
Steve also worked for Marvel and from 1989 to 1990, was the regular cover artist for the reprint series Classic X-Men.
Our condolences go out to Steve’s family, his wife, Marianne, and their children and he will be missed by comic fans the world over.
RIP Steve Lightle (November 19, 1959 – 8th January 2021)
