The Geeky Brummie Pull List with The Dreaming.
It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time to pick you the new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics) or Forbidden Planet. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store.
This week it’s The Dreaming #18 from DC’s Black Label imprint that takes the top spot.
I also recommend a bunch of other great comics to discover this week including some new first issues from Ahoy Comics, Marvel and Dynamite that should be of interest and you can find them all in my pull list below.
If all of these great comics aren’t enough for you then why not bolster your reading list by checking out some of my previous choices in the videos at the bottom of the page.
Title: The Dreaming
Publisher: DC Black Label
Issue No.: 18
Creative Team: Simon ‘Si’ Spurrier – Writer : Marguerite Sauvage – Artist : Yanick Paquette – Cover Artist
The Dreaming has been a spectacular read. The comic has utterly respected everything that Neil Gaiman laid down when he established the Sandman Universe but has also managed to have its own clear and distinctive voice. This isn’t Gaiman Lite. This is Simon Spurrier establishing himself as a master of the comics medium. His writing has been enthralling. His use of established characters has been pitch perfect and the new additions he has created have become firm favourites. His writing has been matched by the wonderful artists he has been working with. This issue sees him working with Marguerite Sauvage again, as regular series artist Bilquis Evely takes a break before we embark on the final issues of their tenure on this series. This book should be on everyones pull list, so add it to yours today.
From the Publisher:
“Rose Walker was a vortex, once. And as a vortex, she draws dreams to herself…and she is drawn to them. And it’s a good thing, too, because Dora, Matthew, and Abel are in well over their heads in the waking world—a world that is slowly destroying itself, as Wan’s plans for the collective unconscious of humanity have come to pass!“
