It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time to pick you the new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics) or Forbidden Planet. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store.
This week it’s the turn of the final and greatest member of DC Comics Trinity to celebrate a milestone issue when Wonder Woman reaches issue 750.

750 issues. What a landmark. Intoduced in 1941 by William Moulton Marston – Wonder Woman has gone to to take her place amongst the greatest characters ever created. I’ve read the adventures of Wonder Woman on and off over the years but I was a huge fan of the post Crisis George Pérez run in the late 80s – hence my choice of cover. The mix of Greek Mythology and George’s art was really something and he dedicated five years to the character as both artist and writer. How could I resist the homage to that fantastic run. It was so influential you can see a lot of it in the version Patty Jenkins brought to the screen. As you can see above there will be huge array of variant covers to choose from and I wish you luck finding the one you want. It’s a shame Pérez isn’t supplying anything for the interior of the comic the line-up of creators who are is pretty stella and if the Batman and Superman anniversary issues are anything to go by then we should be in for a treat.
From the Publisher:
“An all-star 96-page celebration of the Amazon Princess by longtime favourites and acclaimed new voices! In the lead story, Wonder Woman’s epic “Year of the Villain” battle comes to a close, leading the way to new challenges ahead. Additionally, this oversized gem tells tales from Diana’s past, present and future by some of the greatest storytellers in the business— including Colleen Doran, Mariko Tamaki, the Teen Titans: Raven team of writer Kami Garcia and artist Gabriel Picolo, and legendary Wonder Woman creators returning to the character, including Gail Simone and Greg Rucka!“
