The Geeky Brummie Pull List with Shadowman
A good week for comics as we have four books on the Pull List. Four more new comics make it in to our On The Radar section, including the final issue of Stray Dogs and the first issue of Vinyl and you should definitely check them out.
In Meanwhile… we take a look at the new HELP: The Hero Initiative Anthology Kickstarter.
Now on with the comics…
Title: Shadowman
Issue: 3
Publisher: Valiant Comics
Written by Cullen Bunn : Art by Jon Davis-Hunt
Masters of terror Cullen Bunn and Jon Davis-Hunt continue terrifying tour by bringing the supernatural defender to Barcelona.
What is your darkest secret worth? Shadowman must face demons from his past and demons of the present as he encounters the sinister Undertaker. Will Jack be dragged into a Hell of his making?
Three issues in and I’m already loving this book. The team of Bunn and Davis-Hunt are knocking it out of the park and if you’ve not sampled anything from Valiant before then this is the book to convert you.
Title: The Dreaming: Waking Hours
Issue: 11
Publisher: DC Black Label
Written by G. Willow Wilson : Art by M.K. Perker and Nick Robles : Coloured by Mat Lopes : Cover by Marguerite Sauvage
The time has come for a revolution in the realm of Faerie-but do Heather After and Jophiel have the power to make it happen by themselves if Ruin, lost in his own regrets, has fled back into the safety of the Dreaming? The Unseelie Court and their deadly allies certainly don’t think so…
This book is just delightful. The title has emerged from the shadow cast by Gaiman to become its own unique thing. I can’t recommend this book enough.
Title: Way of X
Issue: 3
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Written by Simon Spurrier : Art by Bob Quinn : Cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli
MAKE MORE MUTANTS.
It’s the Hellfire Gala hangover. Nightcrawler tries to root out the evil working to destroy Krakoa by investigating all its laws, starting with… **SEXY SAXOPHONE SOLO**
It’s kinda cool how well the British writers are doing at Marvel. Alongside Al Ewing, Si Spurrier is putting out one of the best X-books right now. After the events of the Hellfire Gala and Planet Size X-Men it’ll be interesting to see who things work out for Kurt.
Title: S.W.O.R.D.
Issue: 6
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Written by Al Ewing : Art by Valerio Schiti
THIS IS WHAT COMES NEXT.
On Earth, the HELLFIRE GALA is in full swing. But on S.W.O.R.D. Station One, a very different guest list comes together…as Abigail Brand finally unveils her plans for Mysterium – and the future of human and mutantkind.
I love what Al and Valerio have been doing with our space based mutants. With all the big changes elsewhere across the X-books I hope that Marvel intend to keep this title going for a good while yet.
On the radar this week some other comics not on the Pull List but well worth checking out:
