New Comic Book Day with The Wild Storm.
Time it head out to the new look Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics) to grab yourself some comics. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store including The Wild Storm and Dial H for Hero. Plus a round up of other regular comics you should be reading.
Title: The Wild Storm
Publisher: DC
Issue No.: 22
Creative Team: Warren Ellis – Writer : Jon Davis-Hunt – Artist & Cover Artist
I’ve been recommending this book for a while and I will continue to do so until it ends. The Wild Storm has been one of the most consistently great books I’ve been reading. The story by Warren Ellis has been epic and Jon Davis-Hunt has been producing some of the best work of his career. Why we aren’t talking about this series in the same way we talk about The Ultimates is beyond me. If you’re watching Avengers: Endgame this weekend then you should pick up this series as it has the same widescreen, character driven awesomeness. I really do love this series.
From the Publisher:
“”The Sparks has the authority.” Jenny Mei Sparks has assembled a group of misfits and exiles, to stand against a corruption that covers the world and orbits above it. The problem? She’s probably too late. The endgame for a free Earth is in motion.“
Title: Dial H for Hero
Publisher: DC/Wonder Comics
Issue No.: 2
Creative Team: Sam Humphries – Writer : Joe Quinones – Artist & Cover Artist
Issue one was a good fun and I’m picking up this second issue to see where we go. The Wonder Comics imprint has been putting out some great books and if you have some younger family members wanting to get into comics you should be introducing them to Dial H.
From the Publisher:
“On the road (in a food truck full of mayonnaise!) with the amazing H-Dial that gifts the user with a new superpower every time they place a call, teenage runaways Miguel and Summer come under attack by others who crave the power the dial offers. With cryptic calls from the “phone zone” and no one to turn to for help, the adolescent adventurers come to a breaking point, where they either must work together or lose more than just the dial.?“
Round Up
Also out this week are new issues from comics I recommend you start picking up including Age Of X-Man: X-Tremists #3, Man-Eaters #8, Star Trek: Year Five #1, Invisible Kingdom #2 and Marvel Comics Presents #4.
