New Comic Book Day with The Wild Storm.
Time to pick up some new comics from Worlds Apart Birmingham (formerly Nostalgia & Comics). These are Geeky Brummie’s picks of the comics available today from your local comic book store including The Wild Storm, The Walking Dead & Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds.
Title: The Wild Storm
Publisher: DC Comics
Issue No.: 24
Creative Team: Warren Ellis – Writer : Jon Davis-Hunt – Artist & Cover Artist : John Kalisz – Colorist: Steve Buccellato – Colorist
This is it, the final issue of The Wild Storm. Warren and Jon have worked tirelessly over the past 24 issues to put together one magnificent comic. This has done for characters from The Authority what The Ultimates did for the Avengers. Jon’s art has been up their with the work Bryan Hitch did on original Authority book – in fact, in my humble opinion it has surpassed it. It’s been a fantastic ride and I’m really excited to read this issue.
From the Publisher:
“The final issue. The final act. IO has betrayed the world, and Skywatch wants to burn it. The only people in the middle are Jenny Mei Sparks’ ragtag team of wounded orphans of the secret world. The storm has hit. This is how it ends.“
Title: The Walking Dead
Publisher: Image Comics
Issue No.: 193
Creative Team: Robert Kirkman – Writer : Charlie Adlard – Artist & Cover Artist : Dave Stewart – Colorist & Cover Artist : Cliff Rathburn – Letterer
This could be the most important issue of The Walking Dead ever published or Robert Kirkman could be pulling a fast one. Whatever happens I suggest you grab a copy of this comic while you can.
From the Publisher:
““THE FARMHOUSE” Out in the countryside, trouble is brewing for a certain someone.“
Title: Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds
Publisher: DC’s Young Animals
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Gerard Way & Jeremy Lambert – Writers : James Harvey – Artist : Sajan Rai – Colorist : Nick Derington – Cover Artist : Mitch Gerads – Variant Cover Artist
I’ve been a big fan of the Doom Patrol since their post-crisis reinvention in 1987. The Grant Morrison version of the team is particular favourite. So it wouldn’t be hard to guess that I’ve loved the Gerard Way iteration of the greatest team of misfit superheroes. This new series for DC’s Young Animal imprint with art by James Harvey looks to continue that trend.
From the Publisher:
“All hail the Supreme Shape! Gerard Way and the World’s Strangest Superheroes return in an all-new series that takes them beyond the borders of time and space! Featuring artwork by acclaimed cartoonist James Harvey, this issue finds the Doom Patrol facing off against the fanatical fitness fiends of planet Orbius and the Marathon Eternal! Meanwhile, Cliff Steele, formerly known as Robotman, must come to terms with his new body of flesh and bone…yet the real test turns out to be something far more frightening: his mom.“
Round Up
Also out this week are some other comics I recommend you take a look at including DCeased #3, Star Trek: Year Five #3, The Immortal Hulk #20, The Dreaming #11 and Uncanny X-Men #21.
