New Comic Book Day with Wonder Twins.
It’s the return of old heroes and a trip into the darkest parts of space in this weeks new comic book day. These are Geeky Brummie’s picks for the comics that will be available today from your local comic book store including Wonder Twins and Outer Darkness. Plus a round up of other regular comics you should be reading.
Title: WONDER TWINS
Publisher: DC Comics/Wonder Comics
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Mark Russell – Writer : Stephen Byrne – Artist, Cover Artist : Dustin Nguyen – Variant Cover Artist
I’m a big fan of both Mark and Stephen so this was always going on my pull list. People of a certain vintage will remember the Wonder Twins from their starring role in the Super Friends cartoon. They have briefly appeared in comics over the years but this new mini-series should catapult them into the A-List. If you need anything more to sell this to you they have a pet space monkey called Gleek.
From the Publisher:
“Exiled from their home planet, alien heroes Zan and Jayna must navigate life as teens on Earth at South Metropolis High School, where they’re even bigger outsiders than the typical awkward young adults. Under the watchful eye of Superman, the brother and sister pull monitor duty at the Hall of Justice as interns, while also trying to overcome the pitfalls of Zan’s brash confidence and Jayna’s shy but streetwise persona. If you think you know the Wonder Twins, think again—this book takes the form of the unexpected.“
Title: OUTER DARKNESS
Publisher: IMAGE
Issue No.: 4
Creative Team: John Layman – Writer : Afu Chan – Artist, Cover Artist
4 issues in and I’m loving this series from Layman and Chan. A unique premise, bursts of wonderfully depicted horror and plenty of mystery makes this a must read.
From the Publisher:
“In this issue, we learn the sad tale of Chief Navigator Elox. What secret in his past might doom the crew of The Charon, and why does he hate everyone so much?”
