Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, furious kicking.
If you thought last week was quiet, it has nothing on this week. While last week’s releases were relatively big releases, especially for people following their respective niches, this week is a little more obscure. In fact, if you don’t play games on PC, there is nothing for you here.
Of course, this is the calm before the storm, as the next couple of weeks are about to get busy. For now, enjoy the peace and quiet, or at least as much as you can have with an angry man kicking everyone as in my Game of the Week.
New Releases
Horticular (PC) sees you building a garden for gnomes. It’s basically a cross between a city builder and a farming sim where you must reclaim the land with a beautiful garden, while also dealing with an encroaching corruption.
Developed by inDirection Games and published by Slug Disco (Empires of the Undergrowth, Beetle Uprising).
Once Human (PC) is an open world survival game that can be played in co-op. The world has been taken over by fearsome monsters from space and you are fighting to reclaim Earth despite the odds being stacked against you. Absolutely not for me, but the monster designs are cool.
Developed by Starry Studio, a new subsidiary studio of NetEase.
Game of the Week
Game of the Week is Anger Foot (PC), a, uh, first-person…booter?
You play as the titular Anger Foot, a man on a revenge mission to take down the Crime Minister who stole his favourite sneakers. To achieve this, you need to blast your way through hordes of enemies across the crime-ridden city, and also stick the boot in as much as possible. Because as well as an arsenal of weapons, you also have the power of kicking on your side.
Every time I’ve seen this game in trailers, its entire presence has baffled me in a good way. It’s basically a Doom-style boomer shooter, but your foot is a major part of your toolkit. It’s incredibly goofy so how can I not give it Game of the Week?
Developed by Free Lives (Broforce, Genital Jousting, Terra Nil) and published by Devolver Digital (Hotline Miami, Katana Zero, Children of the Sun).
