Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, code breaking, tag team fighting and exploring robots.
Re-Releases and Ports
Dynasty Warriors Origins comes to Switch 2 this week, bringing last year’s hack and slash RPG to Nintendo. So if you want to start slashing through Chinese history in between games of Mario Kart and Donkey Kong, now you can!
Also coming to Switch 2 (and also Xbox Series X/S), it’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, with Square Enix promising the rest of the trilogy to follow, with a Rebirth port on the way and a chance that the third episode may release much closer to its eventual PS5 release. If you need a refresher, this is the first part of the remake of Final Fantasy VII, originally released for PS4 in 2020 and covering the entire Midgar portion of the original game. Comes bundled with the additional Intergrade content including the additional Yuffie side plot.
Early Access
Releasing into Steam Early Access, Bladesong is a game about being a blacksmith. Meet your customer needs by utilising a range of complex sword shaping creation tools. Create custom parts, shaped the blade as you see fit and add whatever decorations you feel to make it as cool as possible. Actually kind of cool if you’re the kind of nerd that’s really into swords. Developed by Sun and Serpent Creations and published by Mythwright.

New Releases
Hack and Climb (PC) is a platformer where you play a weapon. Take control of an axe, spear or other assorted weapons as you fling yourself from wall to wall. Looks kinda maddening, but in a fun way. Developed by Kodachi Games.
Perfect Tides: Station to Station (PC) is a point-and-click adventure about navigating young adulthood in the early 2000s. You play as Mara, who has just turned 18 and is about to head out into the world of being a legal adult. Developed by Three Bees.
Arknights: Endfield (PC, PS5, Mobile) is a full Genshin Impact style action RPG spun off from Hypergryph’s previous tower defence game Arknights. Explore the moon known as Talos-II as the mysterious Endministrator as you attempt to colonise your new home in space. Mixture of fast-paced action combat and Factorio-style automation management.
Mio: Memories in Orbit (PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox X/S) is a Metroidvania starring a small robot who wakes up on the Vessel, a facility full of rogue machines. Looks beautiful and has been getting some rave reviews across the board. Looks set to be the next big Metroidvania obsession. Developed by Douze Dixiemes and published by Focus Entertainment.
After a brief stint in Early Access, Season 1 of 2XKO (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) launched this week. This is the 2v2 fighting game based on League of Legends that’s been highly anticipated for a while now. Featuring a roster of twelve LoL Champions at launch with more on the way, this aims to hit the competitive FCG hard this year. It’ll be interesting to see how it does against the likes of Street Fighter and Tekken.

Game of the Week
Game of the Week is TR-49 (PC), a code-breaking game from the storytelling experts at Inkle.
You have found a code breaking machine developed by the engineers at Bletchley Park. There’s just one problem – you can’t read any of it to discover its secrets. Use whatever information you can to crack the codes, uncover the mysteries and figure out what the heck the TR-49 even is.
Two reasons this one is Game of the Week. First of all, there is Inkle’s superb reputation with previous narrative games such as Overboard and Expelled. Second, this is exactly the kind of meaty deduction game that I get obsessed with. It’s in the same vein as Obra Dinn, Roottrees Are Dead or Type Help, as you dig through documents to find specific bits of information, uncovering a whole branching story as you go. Plus it’s only a fiver, which is a nice bonus.
