Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, kings, foxes and corporations in space.

New Releases
Blight Night (PC) is a survival horror calling back to both 90s video game horror and 80s VHS horror movies. You explore a Texas town looking to uncover the mysteries within, all while trying to avoid the encroaching darkness.
Deck of Haunts (PC) sees you playing as a haunted house – yes, really – by using cards to build the rooms and associated horrors. Think of something like the board game Betrayal on the House on the Hill but you’re the one inflicting horrors on the inhabitants.
Dunk Dunk (PC, Switch) is a chaotic multiplayer basketball game in the form of a 2D platformer, coupled with stretchy arm mechanics. Also features cameos from a range of indie games, including Yooka-Laylee and Overcooked.
The Midnight Walk (PC, PS5) is a quirky VR game with a stop motion aesthetic from the developers of Lost in Random. You team up with a sentient lantern named Potboy who acts as your light and guide through a world of strange creatures.
Spirit of the North 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) is an exploration game where you play as a fox exploring a land of mysteries. I played some of this in a review copy, and sadly didn’t find much to enjoy. While there are some intriguing mechanics, particularly through the use of spirits, but the world is a little too big and empty to be particularly engaging. Similarly, the game was riddled with technical issues that dampened the experience further. It’s a real shame because the presentation is beautiful and there are hints of a meaningful story here.
Revenge of the Savage Planet (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) is the sequel to Journey of the Savage Planet, after developers Raccoon Logic (formerly Typhoon Studios) managed to free themselves from Google’s grasp after the collapse of Stadia. This is another survival game set on an alien planet, where you have been sent by an evil corporation, except now there are additional planets to explore. Expect a lot of weird alien beasts and copious satire directed at corporate management. If it’s not extra spicy after the Stadia debacle, I’m disappointed.

Game of the Week
Game of the Week is Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall (PC), the sequel to 2020’s Yes, Your Grace.
Much like the first game, Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall sees you play as a king holding court. Your subjects will visit you and ask for your advice and guidance, or air their grievances, and your choices determine the direction of your kingdom. With this sequel, the mechanics have become more complex, with impending threats to the kingdom looming as the story progresses.
The first game was already an interesting concept, and in fact was a previous Game of the Week. A full sequel with an even deeper storyline and mechanics is a great prospect.
