After a magnificent hardback revival last year, Battle Action is back for this five issue mini series, that will feature a host of top comic talent. Star Trek Annual 2023

Join the writers behind the critically acclaimed Star Trek series for an exciting romp through the history of Star Trek! The Theseus crew finally get a chance to relax. But just as everyone settles down, a strange signal comes in with a message that reads, “Mr. Scott. We have a problem. Bring help.- Jim.” Upon finding the source of the signal, the Theseus bridge crew step into a fully activated holodeck recreating the bridge of the original U.S.S. Enterprise complete with a “discovery” of some “strange new” guest stars!
Whilst things are getting serious in the regular monthly titles, this Annual looks like it will have some fun in the Star Trek Universe. The cover promises guest appearances by many familiar faces, and with Rachael Stott on board for art, this is sure to be one of the best looking Trek books.
Power Girl Special

Continued from Action Comics #1053
Power Girl takes center stage! With new powers and a new mission, Power Girl faces a challenge unlike any she’s experienced before in this shocking one-shot rising from the events of Lazarus Planet and Action Comics! With Omen’s guidance, Power Girl now strives to battle the demons—literal and figurative—lurking within the minds of some of the greatest superheroes in the DC Universe! But the nefarious Johnny Sorrow has been searching for a connection to Earth-0, and the superheroines’ work may unwittingly give him the means to make their world his personal stage! Can Power Girl and her estranged Super-Family bring down the curtain on Sorrow’s evil plans? And at what cost?
The backup story is an introductory tale. Fire and Ice respond to a natural disaster in Baltimore, debating whether to involve Ice’s old flame Guy Gardner. When Guy causes some major drama at the scene, Superman gets involved to stop the fight.
I’ve loved this revitalised version of Power Girl and enjoyed her backup appearances in recent issues of Action Comics. This special reunites that creative team once again before the regular Power Girl series arrives later in the year. As an added bonus we are getting an wonderful looking Fire and Ice story too.
The Rocketeer
Issue 1
IDW Publishing
Script – Danny Bilson, Paul De Meo, Robert Windom and Kelvin Mao
Art – Craig Cermak, Jae Lee and Adam Hughes
Buy digitally on Comixology – The Rocketeer #1 (Link)
It’s a wall-to-wall adventure in a trio of Rocketeer stories in this terrific all-new special!
First, the writers of the Rocketeer film, Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo, and illustrator Adam Hughes bring us a tale featuring pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart. Second, Robert Windom (Seven Sons) and Jae Lee craft a story of the Rocketeer fighting a Japanese Zero in the South Pacific. And the third entry is by Kelvin Mao (director of the Dave Stevens documentary Drawn To Perfection, and co-writer of Seven Sons) and artist extraordinaire Craig Cermak. While on a date with Betty, our man Cliff encounters a vaguely familiar adventurer/archeologist. What kind of trouble will this spell for our hero? You’ll have to grab a copy of this special one-off issue to find out!
Come on, it’s The Rocketeer, drawn by Adam Hughes, what else do you need to know before rushing down to your local comic shop to immediately pick this up!
Clobberin’ Time
Issue 3
Marvel Comics
Script and Art – Steve Skroce
Colours – Bryan Valenza
Letters – Joe Sabino
Buy digitally on Comixology – Clobberin’ Time #3 (Link)
Ben Grimm travels to the Jersey Shore (and beyond) for a Grimm family reunion. Things get even more awkward when Doctor Strange shows up with information about the time-and-space-traveling thief who’s been haranguing the THING. Don’t miss part three of the greatest Thing story ever told, as far as we know…
I’d been curious about this book and recently picked up the first two issues. I was immediately blown away and had to add it to my regular pull. If, like me, you are a fan of the old Marvel Two-In-One series, then this new series featuring our ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing is a must for you. Skroce is delivering some career best work here and it is glorious to behold. Go buy it!

But when Britain remains unbowed, Morgan reaches for the big gun—in the form of Doom! Will Morgan’s ally of the past help her build the Avalon of her demented dreams? Or does Doctor Doom have a plan of his own up his iron sleeves?
I’m enjoying this series and it’s fun to see lots of the Captain Britain regulars in action again.

The Micronauts Return from Inner Space
What a week it’s been. After reporting on the release of a ROM The Space Knight Omnibus to be released from Marvel next year and hoping it would lead to an Omnibus for The Micronauts, just days later came the announcement that this would indeed be the case.
Due to arrive in April 2024, the first of those Omnibuses, The Micronauts: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1, will reprint the first 29 issues of the series, as well as The Micronauts Annual #1-2, and material from The Micronauts Special Edition #1-5. As with ROM, Marvel will publish a facsimile edition of The Micronauts #1 in September.
Here is the full press release from Marvel –
Earlier this week, Marvel Comics proudly announced an exciting new collaboration with Hasbro, a global leader in play, that would result in new collections of Rom the Spaceknight’s beloved comic book adventures. Today, Marvel is thrilled to reveal that another popular toy-originating comic book series will receive the same treatment: THE MICRONAUTS!
From out of the Microverse, it’s the Omnibus you thought could never happen! The subatomic superstars headlined a long-running series packed with rich world-building, fascinating mythology and big-scale, sci-fi excellence! With the series set in the main Marvel Comics universe, the Micronauts joined forces with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four and dared to go up against the likes of Doctor Doom, Arcade, and other iconic Marvel super villains.
Like ROM, these exemplary comic book classics were written by industry legend Bill Mantlo and will be reprinted for the first time ever in MICRONAUTS: THE ORIGINAL MARVEL YEARS OMNIBUS, on sale April 2024. In anticipation for this long-awaited collection, fans can also pick up a facsimile edition of the Micronauts’ comic book debut, 1979’s MICRONAUTS #1, this September!
MICRONAUTS: THE ORIGINAL MARVEL YEARS OMNIBUS VOL. 1 will collect THE MICRONAUTS (1979) #1-29 & ANNUAL (1979) #1-2 and material from MICRONAUTS SPECIAL EDITION (1983) #1-5. Helmed by writer Bill Mantlo, the Micronauts brought together the subatomic heroes of Homeworld and the Marvel Universe. Mantlo’s rich character mythology and groundbreaking artwork by Michael Golden made the series an instant classic.
In Micronauts, Commander Rann, Princess Mari, Biotron, Acroyear and Bug traverse the universe aboard the microship Endeavor as they struggle to free Homeworld from the tyrannical Baron Karza. Their exploits also bring them to Earth where our micro-sized heroes encounter big-time heroes and villains including the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain Universe and Man-Thing. This Omnibus edition presents a stunning restoration, complete with letters pages and a host of bonus material, including house ads, original artwork and more.
MICRONAUTS #1 FACSIMILE EDITION boldly re-presents MICRONAUTS (1979) #1, one of the all-time great Marvel comic books, in its original form, ads and all! They came from inner space! Explorer Arcturus Rann! Freedom-fighting princess Marionette! The armored warrior Acroyear! Fun-loving thief Bug! The robots Microton and Biotron! They are the greatest heroes of the Microverse!
But after 1,000 years in suspended animation, Rann has returned to a Homeworld vastly changed from the one he knew — and Mari’s family was killed in the coup d’état that saw Baron Karza rise to power. Now, together with their allies, they begin their epic quest to free Homeworld from the tyrannical Karza’s iron grip in the first chapter of an acclaimed comic-book space opera from the legendary creative pairing of Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden!
I can’t believe that this is happening and it’s going to cost me a fortune to collect these omnibuses, but I really hope this means ROM and The Micronauts will return fully to the Marvel Universe.
