This Omnibus edition presents a stunning restoration, complete with letters pages and host of bonus material, including house ads, original artwork and more!
Collecting MICRONAUTS (1979) #1-29 and ANNUAL #1-2.
The “Micronauts” franchise originated from Mego’s line of toys in the late 1970s. These futuristic plastic and die-cast metal action figures, vehicles, and playsets featured characters like Acroyear, Biotron, Space Glider, Time Traveler, Force Commander, and the villainous Baron Karza. Existing within a fictional “Microverse,” these articulated toys allowed for creative combinations to form sci-fi robots and alien creatures.
Marvel adapted the “Micronauts” toy line into a comic book series, which ran from 1979 to 1986. Written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by artists such as Michael Golden, Howard Chaykin, Pat Broderick, Steve Ditko, and Rich Buckler, the series became an instant classic. It emerged from the immense popularity of the Mego toys, even after Mego ceased production and went bankrupt.
Now, Marvel Comics is reprinting the entire original “Micronauts” comics run for the first time ever in the “Micronauts: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1.” This deluxe hardcover edition, set in the main Marvel Comics universe, features rich world-building, fascinating mythology, and big-scale sci-fi excellence. The Micronauts join forces with iconic Marvel characters like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, facing off against villains such as Doctor Doom and Arcade.
Helmed by writer Bill Mantlo, the “Micronauts” series brings together the subatomic heroes of Homeworld and the Marvel Universe. Michael Golden’s groundbreaking artwork in the first 12 issues, adds to the allure of this captivating saga. If you’re ready to explore unseen edges of inner space, this omnibus promises an exciting journey through the Microverse.

Farewell Trina Robbins
Trina Robbins, the pioneering cartoonist and comics historian, passed away on April 10, 2024 at the age of 85. She was among the first female artists of the underground comix movement and later became a noted comics historian. Her legacy is marked by groundbreaking contributions to the world of comics and her unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries.
Born in Brooklyn, Trina Robbins was passionate about science fiction during her school days. Before venturing into comics, she had a successful career in fashion, owning a boutique in New York’s East Village that helped define the counterculture look of the 1960s. In 1970, she moved to San Francisco, where she co-created and published the first all-woman comic, “It Ain’t Me, Babe,” alongside Barbara “Willy” Mendes. Notably, her story “Sandy Comes Out” was the first comic to feature an openly lesbian woman.
Outspoken Pioneer
Robbins was outspoken and unafraid to address social and political issues through her work. She criticized acclaimed artist Robert Crumb’s depictions of women and contributed to a pro-choice comic anthology in 1990. In 1986, she briefly entered mainstream comics by drawing Wonder Woman, becoming the first woman in the character’s 45-year history to illustrate her own book.
Her passion extended beyond creating comics. Starting in 1985, Robbins delved into comics history, writing or co-writing several works focused on women’s contributions to the art form. Notable titles include “From Girls to Grrrlz: A History of Women’s Comics from Teens to Zines,” “A Century of Women Cartoonists,” and “The Great Women Superheroes.” Her impact was recognized with honors such as induction into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame, three Lulu of the Year awards, and a place in the Wizard World Hall of Legends.
Revolutionary Legacy
Trina Robbins leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire artists and readers alike. Her revolutionary spirit and dedication to pushing the boundaries of comics will be remembered for generations to come. Farewell, Trina Robbins, a trailblazer, icon, and inspiration to us all.
The whole Geeky Brummie team would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to Ms Robbins family and friends.
