Now on with the comics…
Man’s Best
Issue 1
BOOM! Studios
Script – Pornsak Pichetshote
Art – Jesse Lonergan
Letters – Jeff Powell
Buy digitally from Comixology/Kindle – Man’s Best #1 (Link)
Homeward Bound on an alien world, MAN’S BEST follows three emotional support pets living on the Starship Horizon–a spacecraft searching for a new home to house a humanity compromised by bad decisions and corporate greed.
But after the ship crashes and the crew is captured, these loyal pets are their owner’s only hope. Outfitted in outrageous tech, these three best friends must traverse a hostile world to rescue their owners–leaving them the only hope for a humanity that might not be worth saving. In a harrowing adventure, the pets are faced with challenges that threaten to destroy their most valuable treasure: their friendship.
Long time readers should know I’m a sucker for a story starring our furry friends, so it should come as no surprise this is my Comic of the Week. Pichetshote is a great writer and I’m curious to see how this story of pets as saviours unfolds. I loved Lonergan’s work on Hedra a few years back so I’m excited to see what he can do here. All in all, I’m looking forward to this series and I hope you will pick it up.

It’s here that John probes an ailing Clarice about her past run-ins with Dream’s power. The sands have caused quite a stir, but just how far have they lodged themselves in the heart of the American dream?
This series has been incredible so far, with John exploring America’s rich mythology. This issue promises to be a thrilling ride through folklore, ghosts and the American spirit.

Sam Hamm continues to expand the original Burtonverse movies in this excellent series. We are introduced to more new spins on familiar characters, with art that maintains the spirit of the classic films. Whether you’re a long time fan or a newcomer to this particular cinematic universe, this issue is definitely worth your time.

What secret has Lex Luthor kept under wraps that could change the dynamic of the entire battle?!
This has been a fun crossover so far and this issue looks to continue that trend. What is the secret Lex is hiding? Could it be a Mecha-nical surprise? I hope that the final issue will bring the heroes and kaiju together to face a bigger threat than they could handle alone.

I’ve really been enjoying how this story has been expanding the lore of the Apes universe, with the introduction of a new Ape Empire. What will the consequences be of Cornelius and Zira’s journey to the Forbidden Zone? This is a must-read for fans of the Apes franchise and newcomers alike, and offers a refreshing new take on the classic tale.

The Theseus crew’s actions have exacerbated the volcanic instability of the planet — another thing the Romulans will undoubtedly pin on the Federation. The Romulan Magistrex’s plot to build an alliance that will destroy the Federation is underway, can Sisko and his crew manage to save this savage world of glass and bone? Find out in the finale of arc three of the Eisner-nominated series!
Here we are at the finale of the third arc of this stunning run of Star Trek comics. Kelly and Jackson have done a fine job of crafting a story that puts Sisko and his crew in the most difficult situations. Can the Emissary navigate these treacherous political waters and save a world on the verge of destruction? This series serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of the Star Trek franchise and its ability to explore complex themes through the lens of science fiction.
