New Comic Book Day including Multiple Man
It’s another new comic book day and here are Geeky Brummie’s picks for the comics available from your local comic book store including the first issue of Multiple Man.
Title: Multiple Man
Publisher: Marvel
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Matthew Rosenberg and Andy MacDonald. Cover by Marcos Martin. Variant Covers by Dave Johnson and Larry Stroman.
Jamie Maddox is back – or is he! One of my favorite X-Men – Jamie Madrox – was alive for a while. Then he was dead. Now he’s not. But he will be again if he doesn’t kill himself trying to make sure he doesn’t die. It makes sense when you read it. I was a big fan of Matthew Rosenberg’s book 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and I’ve high hope for this new series.
Title: Bedtime Games
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Nick Keller, Conor Nolan and Kelly Fitzpatrick. Cover by Conor Nolan.
Great to see a new horror comic from Dark Horse. As summer comes to an end, three friends start senior year with a bang by exploring the mysterious past of their school. But before the night is over, their adventure turns into trouble when the kids set loose an evil that seeks to prey on their worst nightmares.
Title: Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man
Publisher: Marvel
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Nnedi Okorafor and Alberto Jimenez. Cover by Terry Dodson. Variant Cover by Yasmine Putri.
Straight from the blockbuster Black Panther film Wakanda’s best warriors, the fierce Dora Milaje team up with the Marvel U in the first issue of this three-part story. When the Dora catch wind of a Wakandan threat causing trouble in New York, they’ll leap into action – with or without their king. Don’t miss Okoye, Ayo and Aneka on a globe-trotting mission to protect the realm at any cost. #WAKANDAFOREVER starts here!
Title: Modern Fantasy
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Issue No.: 1
Creative Team: Rafer Roberts and Kristen Gudsnuk. Cover by Kristen Gudsnuk.
From the creator of Henchgirl! comes a new story at Dark Horse. A young Ranger woman who came to the city with dreams of adventure, her drug dealing reptilian wizard roommate, and her boisterous Dwarf maiden BFF embark on a modern day quest to save the world while struggling to keep their crappy day jobs and pay off their student loans. The roommates become embroiled in danger when one of their significant others finds himself taken by criminals, and the trio must save him.
We also recommend the following Trade Paperback released today –
Title: Violent Cases (30th Anniversary Collectors Edition)
Publisher: DC
Creative Team: Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean.
This a 30th anniversary celebration of a sensitive and ingenious work, that reveals the often murky nexus between memory and imagination through the narrator’s cloudy childhood remembrance of a visit to Al Capone’s osteopath – and the impact of his seedy stories on an impressionable youth. As wonderful today as it was when it was first released 25 years ago. A must for any collection.
