Now on with the comics…

Sleep #1
Image Comics
By Zander Cannon
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Sleep #1 (Link)
When Jonathan Reason falls asleep, he becomes… something else. Every night, it stalks his quiet town, killing (seemingly) indiscriminately. When he wakes, covered in blood, our story begins. This new horror mystery from ZANDER CANNON (Heck, Top 10, Kaijumax) shows us the horrifying waking hours of an unwilling part-time killer.
Cannon’s Oni-Press series Kaijumax was a great comic, that did some very interesting things with the genre. Now this new horror series from Image looks to introduce a whole new audience to Cannon’s unique style.

RoboWolf #1
Dark Horse Comics
By Jake Smith
Buy from Forbidden Planet – RoboWolf #1 (Link)
Robo Wolf and his crew of bank robbing criminals are in a race against time to get a fat stack of stolen money to the villainous Colonel Massacre, who has kidnapped Robo Wolf’s daughter for ransom! The Colonel’s not the only one with an eye on the money, however, and our heroes will have to use their combined skills to tear through an onslaught of bloodthirsty cannibals, ninjas, robots, and more!
I loved Smith’s recent run on Godzilla, so it’s no surprise I’m looking forward to this new series. Looking like the greatest 80s movie we never saw, I’ve high hopes for this comic.

Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest #1
Dark Horse Comics
By David M. Booher, Aviv Or, Cris Peter and Jimmy Betancourt
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest #1 (Link)
The Ghostbusters’ increasing notoriety is throwing them for a loop. While Trevor steadies himself by trying to plan a “friendiversary” celebration for him and Lucky, Phoebe meets someone who might be a real friend instead of just a social media follower. But friendships new and old have to take a back seat to more immediate concerns when a ghostly saber summons the ghost of Captain Kidd and threatens to transform NYC into a ghostly pirate town!
With two successful movies reintroducing audiences to the joys of our ghost hunting pals, this new series from DHC looks to expand the universe even more.

Star Trek: Defiant #27
IDW Publishing
By Christopher Cantwell, Davide Tinto, Lee Loughridge and Clayton Cowles
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Star Trek: Defiant #27 (Link)
Sisko is approaching a moment of crisis: Lore is god of the universe, and the number of heroes operating outside his influence is dwindling with every encounter. Everywhere Sisko looks, he sees those he’s failed. Is he really the person meant to defeat Lore and restore his timeline? Just as he is about to set down the burden of leadership… he dreams of a familiar blue light… and remembers there is hope yet in the universe waiting for those with the courage to seek it out.
This wraps up this run of Defiant, with one episode of Lore War to come in the flagship title. This series has been an absolute delight, doing some really interesting things with its cast of characters. It’s a shame it all has to come to an end, but I hope what comes next in IDW’s Star Trek line can live up to the standard set by this series.

Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons II – Sons of Giants TP
IDW Publishing
By Frank Tieri, Inaki Miranda, Eva De La Cruz and Steve Wands
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons II – Sons of Giants TP (Link)
The sequel to 2024’s Eisner-nominated smash Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons. Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda reunite in this historical miniseries that explores a shadowy society who control the secrets of the kaiju, from ancient Rome to Colonial America and beyond.
Sir Francis Drake had his reasons for hiding treasure on Monster Island and in this miniseries all secrets will be revealed! Who are the Illuminati-esque cult, known only as the Sons of Giants, and what is their mission? More importantly, how have they been pulling the strings of every major kaiju encounter since the dawn of time? This series shows us how it all came to be, how Godzilla was discovered by the leaders of the world, and how it changed history forever!
From Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda, the incredible team behind Old Lady Harley, comes an action-packed Godzilla adventure like no other. Collects the five-issue series.
You read this in singles right? Well, if you didn’t now is you chance to catch up with one of the best Godzilla stories of the last few years. The series and its forerunner really did something new with the kaiju and I recommend you pick this collection up.
