Space Ghost
Issue 1
Dynamite
Script – David Pepose
Art – Jonathan Lau
Letters – Taylor Esposito
Buy digitally from Comixology/Kindle – Space Ghost #1 (Link)
Greed and corruption flourish in the darkness between stars. With the territories of the Galactic Federation spread far and wide across the vastness of space, pirates and hijackers ransack the distant colonies with cruel disregard for the innocent scientists living within them.
Yet there is a cosmic vigilante who metes out justice throughout the galaxy, bringing vengeance to those prey upon the defenseless.
Some say he is a policeman who has abandoned the strictures of the law. Others say he is a phantom, the sole survivor of a war-torn planet. And those who have survived his wrath claim he is more a force of nature, able to bend the very elements of Creation to decimate his enemies. They call him the SPACE GHOST – and his adventures begin here!
Award-winning writer DAVID PEPOSE (Punisher) and superstar artist JONATHAN LAU (Vampirella Strikes) kick off this action-packed series with a surprise attack on Space Colony Omicron – home of the brilliant scientist Dr. Jerrod Keplar and his young children, Jan and Jace, as well as their pet monkey, Blip. With the colony’s defenses overwhelmed, all seems lost – but these ruthless pirates didn’t count on the wild card that is Space Ghost!
Space Ghost #1 kicks off an intergalactic adventure filled with mystery, action, and cosmic justice. Award-winning writer David Pepose and superstar artist Jonathan Lau team up to bring us a thrilling tale set in the vastness of space. Lau’s artwork captures the cosmic scale of the setting. From sprawling starships to alien landscapes, each panel is a visual feast. His attention to detail brings the futuristic world to life, and the action sequences crackle with energy. The character designs are iconic, especially Space Ghost himself, with his sleek helmet and glowing eyes. It’s great to see characters like this reach a new audience.
Godzilla: War For Humanity
Issue 5
IDW Publishing
Script – Andrew MacLean
Art – Jake Smith
Colours – Valentina Pinto
Letters – Rus Wooton
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – Godzilla: War For Humanity #5 (Link)
Godzilla alone?! Zoospora continues to spread its roots across the world, and with the kaiju task force nearly out of commission and Godzilla the only one left standing against an army of monsters, it looks like humanity is doomed! In a last-ditch effort, Yuko and Samantha begin to search for Zoospora’s source and any clue to defeating the seemingly unstoppable monster!
This issue wraps up the current run. Jake Smith has been a revelation with his dynamic illustrations, his attention to detail captures the ferocity of the kaiju clashes, and the panel layouts enhance the action sequences. The design of Zoospora has been both grotesque and fascinating. This creative team has delivered a beautiful book and I hope they get to continue these adventures in the future.
