Now on with the comics…
The Avengers: War Across Time

Thor! Iron Man! Captain America! Giant-Man & the Wasp! The classic Avengers against the Hulk on the streets of New York! It’s the beginning of a showdown with Kang the Conqueror that will span the centuries! Eisner Hall of Famer Paul Levitz makes his Marvel debut (unless you count a letter in AMAZING ADVENTURES #5) teamed with acclaimed artist Alan Davis!
DC legend Paul Levitz writes his first story for Marvel and has the legendary Alan Davis provide the art. How could I not make this my Comic of the Week. As the MCU is about to begin Phase 5 with Kang The Conqueror, this book looks to catapult him to the forefront of some of this years comics. I’m really excited to see how this plays out as I loved Levitz work on Legion of Superheroes.
Danger Street
Issue 2
DC Black Label
Writer – Tom King
Artist – Jorge Fornés
Colourist – Dave Stewart
Letterer – Clayton Cowles
Buy on Comixology – Danger Street #2 (Link)
After their attempt to join the Justice League goes horrendously wrong, Warlord and Starman are on the run from the law and the forces of the Fourth World! In their wake they have left behind both a murder and the ongoing mystery of Atlas the Great and his connection to the cosmic powers of the DC Universe. But don’t fret, Lady Cop is on the case, and she won’t rest until it’s solved. But little does she know, a malevolent corporation has a connection to it all and they’re willing to kill to keep their secrets safe. After all, nobody messes with the Green Team!
The first issue was a belter, with some shocking developments for Starman and Warlord. I hope they continue to have the series narrated by Doctor Fate’s helmet.
All Against All
Issue 2
Image Comics
Writer – Alex Paknadel
Artist – Caspar Wijngaard
Letterer – Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Buy on Comixology – All Against All #2 (Link)
In the second chapter of ALEX PAKNADEL & CASPAR WIJNGAARD’s gripping new series, the Earth habitat is under military control and is being strip-mined for its genetic riches. Its most fearsome predators are now fair game for a species that can graft their most lethal traits into terrifying biological warsuits.
However, unbeknownst to General Cov’n and his alien warriors, the hunters have become the hunted. Helpless, the habitat’s lone human survivor, lusts for revenge on his captors and will stop at nothing to see them torn limb from limb.
The first issue set up the world and its characters wonderfully. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all develops and the art is beautiful.
The Amazing Spider-Man
Issue 17
Marvel Comics
Writer – Zeb Wells
Artists – Ed McGuinness and Cliff Rathburn
Colourist – Marcio Menyz
Letterer – Joe Caramagna
Buy on Comixology – The Amazing Spider-Man #17 (Link)
Round One is over! Peter Parker finds himself trapped in Limbo. Peter not only has to find his way back home, but he has to do it in a truly hellish fashion. And who is shadowing him?
LEGACY #911 | DARK WEB TIE-IN
More Dark Web shenanigans for Spidey, with excellent art from McGuinness and co. And that Wells fella isn’t doing too shabby a job on the writing either.
Legion of X
Issue 9
Marvel Comics
Writer – Simon Spurrier
Artist – Netho Diaz
Colourist – Federico Blee
Letterer – Clayton Cowles
Buy on Comixology – Legion of X #9 (Link)
IT’S A WILD, WILD WORLD! The rise of mutant monsters has put mutantkind on high alert as the question of “who will be next?” grows imminent. On Krakoa, a bizarre eco-technological structure has risen around Nightcrawler’s home, and Vox Ignis is on the case to figure out the origins. What he discovers has the potential to bring the foundation of the living island to its knees. With the clock running against them, will the Legionnaires be able to quell the spiraling chaos before it is too late?
Things keep getting weirder and wilder in the pages of Legion. This is a fun title, that shows why Spurrier is definitely one of my go to writers.
X-Men
Issue 18
Marvel Comics
Writer – Gerry Duggan
Artist – Carlos Villa
Colourist – Matt Milla
Letterer – Clayton Cowles
Buy on Comixology – X-Men #18 (Link)
GETTING INTO SYNCH! Synch has a lot to sort out. His life has been derailed, his powers have grown and he’s experienced a loss that no one understands. The universe has had its way with him. Now…it’s his turn.

Colourist – Frank D’Armata
Letterer – Clayton Cowles
Buy on Comixology – Predator #6 (Link)
Theta and the Astar team are under attack by a Predator! But is this the one Theta has been searching for all her life? Don’t miss what happens as Theta comes face-to-face with what could be her final battle!
This is the last issue of this series. It’s been a great first foray into the world of the Predator for Marvel. It’ll be interesting to see where they take it next, but I’ll be sorry to see Kev Walker go.
Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors – All Hail The King
Issue 4
IDW Publishing
Writer – Erik Burnham
Artist – Dan Schoening
Buy on Comixology – Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors – All Hail The King #4 (Link)
Ghidorah is about to attack Tokyo. Cedric and his friends know they need to call on Godzilla for help, but will the King of the Monsters listen and return for a rematch against Ghidorah? And has Godzilla healed enough to put up a fight? What if it hasn’t? That’s where new friend Karen comes in: she’s able to call another monster… another king. From the shores of Okinawa, King Caesar is summoned to help humanity! It’s the penultimate chapter of All Hail the King!
Still a great fun book that is ideal for the all ages market. Get your kids into comics and Godzilla by picking up this title. And please be sure to ask for it by name in your local comic store.
