The Geeky Brummie Pull List with The Dreaming: Waking Hours

In the first regular Pull List of 2021 we take a look at the comics that are out this week. We start the year with the return of The Dreaming: Waking Hours, Star Trek: Year Five and the final issue of Ultraman: The Rise of Ultraman.

No Meanwhile… this week but I’m sure we’ll have a whole load of comic related news soon.

Now on with the comics…

Title: The Dreaming: Waking Hours

Issue: 6

Publisher: DC Black Label

Written by G. Willow Wilson : Art by Javier Rodriguez : Cover by Nick Robles

Genres: Superhero/Fantasy

From the Publisher:

As life gets back to something almost like normal for Lindy, sorceress Heather After finds herself plunged into a waking nightmare of her own! The cruel creature known as Puck is stalking her, and no being she could possibly summon can protect her from his wrath! Unless… no, she couldn’t possibly try to summon…really?!
Don’t miss this issue featuring the work of superstar guest-artist Javier Rodriguez!

It threw me slightly when I thought The Dreaming wasn’t coming back after the previous Shakespeare inspired arc, but here we are with Javier Rodriguez joining G. Willow Wilson to continue our adventures in the world of Dream. I hope this run of issue continues to be a outstanding as what came before.

Title: Star Trek: Year Five

Issue: 18

Publisher: IDW Comics

Written by Jim McCann : Art by Angel Hernandez
Genres: Movies & TV/Science Fiction

From the Publisher:

The Enterprise receives a distress call from Alpha Centauri and arrives to find a planet in the midst of a deadly global pandemic. But is nature responsible for this new virus, or is there something more sinister at play? The final voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise continue in this new episode from Eisner-winning writer Jim McCann (Return of the Dapper Men) and superstar artist Angel Hernandez (Star Trek: Picard)!
Hot on the heels of the last issue, which only came out last week, is issue 18 of this great little series. Jim McCann and Angel Hernandez take over to give us an issue that seems very relevant to our current global situation. As ever Star Trek is a great way of reflecting our world back at us in unexpected ways.

Title: Ultraman : The Rise of Ultraman

Issue: 5

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Written by Mat Groom & Kyle Higgins : Art by Francesco Manna : Cover by Jorge Molina
Genres: Superhero/Action/Adventure

From the Publisher:

With every step comes an earthquake. With every breath comes fire that melts steel. Witness calamity incarnate: BEMULAR!! But even if ULTRAMAN can slay this dark beast and prevent catastrophe, it will be too late to prevent the birth of a new world — leaving one final decision to be made, that promises to forever change the destiny of humanity.
This has been a very solid series. Perhaps we’ve not got as much Kaiju action as I would have liked but I’m hoping we get more Ultraman from Marvel in the not too distant future.
