The Geeky Brummie Pull List with 2000AD
We have four fabulous new comics for you on the Pull List this week. Our comic of week title goes to the latest 2000AD prog, which is another of their jumping on issues, and we have the latest issues of Once and Future, X-Men and the one-shot X-Men: The Trial of Magneto. We have three other comics On The Radar this week including the latest issues of Moonknight, Supergirl and Vinyl and you should definitely check them out.
In Meanwhile… we take a look at two new comics coming soon from Mark Russell and Matthew Rosenberg, that I think you should be adding to your pull list and a new ongoing comic from Rebellion.

This issue features the start of five new ongoing stories and two scintillating one-offs in a pulse-pounding package of Thrill-power!
And it’s crowned with a brand new cover from master artist Mick McMahon, a bold and evocative image of future hardline lawman Judge Dredd! One of 2000 AD’s most iconic artists, McMahon remains one of the master on Dredd, with an ever-evolving style that has produced some of the series’ greatest moments.
If you’re a lapsed reader of the mighty Prog then now is the prefect time to jump back in. This is another of the issues that kick off a whole new set of stories so you can get in on the ground floor for each tale. Judge Dredd, The Out and Scarlet Traces are my favourite strips but with The Diaboliks and Pandora Perfect also starting new runs, and a nice one off Anderson, Psi-Division, and a very puntastic Future Shock from Chris Weston, there is bound to be something you’ll enjoy.

ARTHUR VS. ARTHUR!
Knowing that Grail Castle may be their best chance at survival, Bridgette, Duncan, and Rose hunker down and prepare for the worst. Elsewhere, the resurrected King Arthur challenges an arriving usurper to his rightful throne, another King Arthur, and raises an army of the undead to do it. But the new Arthur has the greatest knight of all on his side — Lancelot!
I can remember when this looked like it was only going to be a six issue mini-series, now here we are at the 20th issue. There is plenty to explore in British folklore and we’ve only just scratched the surface. I’m really enjoying this series and I do recommend you check it out. The writing and art are top notch and there is plenty to enjoy.

EVOLUTION IS THE ENEMY! The X-Men are no strangers to being targeted for their genes…but when the High Evolutionary returns with his brand of unnatural selection, the survival of the whole planet is at stake!
Okay, I can see the High Evolutionary there on the cover, so that can’t be good news. This new X-Men series is plenty of fun and seems to be trying something new in the post Krakoa world. Larraz continues to delivery some of the best renditions of the team I’ve seen in a while and Duggan is a writer who’s previous work I’ve enjoyed, and is doing a great job here. Let’s see where they take us next.

This is a spin-off one-shot to the recent Way of X book, which had a rather short run. There will be lots to wrap up in this issue and I hope Kurt and David manage to survive. Spurrier has been a great addition to the X-writer pool and I’m hoping we’ll see him on another book soon.

Walter can’t remember who he is, and without him, this serial killer rescue mission is doomed. In other “sunflower death cult news,” the Beast and Mother are loose, Guy and Vic brawl against a frenzy of Sunflower Girls, and Rennie has run off to make clothing from human flesh.

Red Tornado is one of my favourite heroes from when I was a kid, so it brings me great pleasure to see him headlining a new series from writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Lieber. Russell has been responsible for some of the best comics I’ve read in recent years so this book, One-Star Squadron was a no-brainer to add to my pull list. This book promises to continue Russell’s run of great stories that are both funny and poignant. Check out the cover and blurb from DC and then go place your order at your local comic book store today. I fully expect issue one to be my comic of the week when released.
One-Star Squadron is DC’s Super Hero team, where heroism meets capitalism. This ragtag group of heroes led by Red Tornado is here to provide service with a smile. All you have to do is send a request via their on-demand hero app and they’ll answer any call. Whether it’s a children’s birthday party or an alien invasion, no job is too small or too big in this story about the Super Heroes without a billion dollar fortune or Fortress of Solitude to fall back on… heroes like Red Tornado, Power Girl, Gangbuster, and Minute Man. Follow these working stiffs as they work for a living while trying to parse one of the great mysteries of the world–just who’s signing those checks and why?
And for fans looking to laugh, or just looking for a bargain, it’s One-Star Squadron.
From Harvey, Ringo and Eisner nominee Mark Russell (WONDER TWINS, EXIT STAGE LEFT: THE SNAGGLEPUSS CHRONICLES) and Eisner and Ringo winner Steve Lieber (SUPERMAN’S PAL JIMMY OLSEN), comes a one-of-a-kind six-issue limited series that promises Superman-Level Service at Bizarro Prices!
One-Star Squadron #1 goes on sale on December 7 and features a cover by Lieber and a variant cover by Steve Pugh.
Are We There Yet?
Another writer who has been on my must read list for a while is Matthew Rosenberg. In November he returns with 4 Kids Walk In To A Bank collaborator Tyler Boss for the new post-apocalyptic series, What’s The Furthest Place From Here? This series from Image was originally announced at the 2019 Image Expo and a key part the series is vinyl records and record players – some of the few things that survived the downfall of civilization. I’m really looking forward to this comic and it has gone straight on the pull list. Expect this to be a future comic of the week too.

Watch out parents – Britain’s newest comic is going to create little monsters everywhere!
Rebellion is proud to announce that Monster Fun will launch next year, the UK’s first all-new on-going humour comic for kids in 30 years.
The first issue will debut in April 2022, with new issues every two months – perfectly designed for holiday entertainment, whether it’s Easter, half term, summer, or Halloween!

One of hundreds of classic comic properties now owned by Rebellion, Monster Fun was a weekly British comic strip magazine for children aged seven to twelve. Published by IPC Media, it ran for 73 issues in 1975–1976, before merging with sister title Buster.
