MINISERIES FINALE
The conclusion of the dark fantasy adventure series from Eisner Award-winning writer SKOTTIE YOUNG (I HATE FAIRYLAND, MIDDLEWEST) and artist KYLE STRAHM (SPREAD, UNEARTH) brings Twig and Splat to the end of their quest. But will they acquire the final piece of the recipe they need to save their world? Or will they die trying?
Five issues just isn’t enough. It is a real shame this is already the end for this beautiful series. The story and art have been phenomenal and I hope that we can return to this world again soon.
The New Champion of Shazam!
Issue 2
DC Comics
Writer – Josie Campbell
Artist – Evan ‘Doc’ Shaner
Letterer – Becca Carey

CHAPTER TWO: WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Mary is back home in the City of Brotherly Love, and she’s feeling nothing but hate! Not only did she have to leave her dream school, but now she’s the caretaker of her siblings and a city that is skeptical about the new hero in town. Everyone wants a piece of Shazam, and super-powered misfits are lining up to take her on! When her world is falling apart, can our hero keep it together?
The first issue set up things nicely. How will Mary cope with being the new champion of Shazam! when all she wanted was a normal life? The real highlight here is Shaner’s art which is just incredible. I’ve been a big fan of his work for some time and it really shines here.

Our year-long celebration of Image Comics’ 30th anniversary continues!
This issue features the latest installments of “The Blizzard” by GEOFF JOHNS & ANDREA MUTTI, “Red Stitches” by BRENDEN FLETCHER & ERICA HENDERSON, “Gehenna” by PATRICK KINDLON & MAURIZIO ROSENZWEIG, and the debut of “Hack/Slash vs. Image” by TIM SEELEY & STEFANO CASELLI.
Plus: The second part of MARIA LLOVET’s three-part serial “All the Things We Didn’t Do Last Night,” the return of CHAP YAEP’s Extreme Studios fan-favorite Dutch in a new serial by JOE CASEY & NATHAN FOX, “Royal City” by JEFF LEMIRE, and the continuation of “Billy Dogma” by DEAN HASPIEL and “Stupid Fresh Mess” by SKOTTIE YOUNG!
I’ve really been enjoying this anthology series. There is a huge variety of stories being told within these pages that really highlight the diverse range of books Image have to offer. Definitely worth picking up.
Once and Future
Issue 29
BOOM! Studios
Writer – Kieron Gillen
Artist – Dan Mora
Colourist – Tamra Bonvillain
Letterer – Ed Dukeshire
Buy on Comixology – Once and Future #29 (Link)
Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora‘s bestselling fantasy epic is nearly complete, and it’s all been building to this! In the penultimate issue, Mary and Bridgette will need all of the help they can get to defeat Arthur’s greatest weapon… And with all of the remaining contenders vying for ultimate power, there’s just no way of telling who will come out victorious!
Here we are at the penultimate issue and the stakes have never been higher. Gillen and his co-creators have forged a new modern myth, one that takes what came before and makes it relevant to the modern world. I would love to revisit these characters again in the future, provided of course, they survive what’s left of the series.
Star Trek
Issue 400
IDW Publishing
Writers – Wil Wheaton, Mike Johnson, Chris Eliopoulos, Declan Shalvey and Rich Handley
Artists – Joe Eisma, Seth Damoose, Luke Sparrow, Megan Levens and Angel Hernandez
Buy on Comixology – Star Trek #400 (Link)
Celebrate IDW’s 400th issue of Star Trek comics with this monumental issue highlighting fan-favorite eras of the acclaimed series. This collection of minis brings together Star Trek comics veterans in an equal celebration of IDW’s Star Trek comics past and future. Join little Keyla Detmer-as seen in Star Trek: Discovery-Adventures in the 32nd Century #3-on a new expedition, visit the Kelvin Universe, witness a heartfelt tale by TNG’s very own Wil Wheaton, and more by Chris Eliopoulos, Declan Shalvey, Rich Handley, and Mike Johnson, with art by Luke Sparrow, Seth Damoose, Megan Levens, Angel Hernandez, and Joe Eisma!
I pretty great line up of talent comes together to celebrate this milestone issue. The IDW line of Trek books has always been great, even if I’ve not read all of them myself. This book promises to bring stories from all corners of the Trek universe together under one cover, so there should be something here for everyone.
Immortal X-Men
Issue 6
Marvel Comics
Writer – Kieron Gillen
Artist – Lucas Werneck
Colourist – David Curiel
Letterer – Clayton Cowles
Buy on Comixology – Immortal X-Men #6 (Link)
STAND FOR JUDGMENT! Judgment comes and the Quiet Council grows suspiciously quiet. An exception: Do you think a man so devoted to the Hellfire cares one jot? Let’s find out.
A.X.E.: JUDGMENT DAY TIE-IN
More from the epic Judgement Day story. The Immortal X-Men has been a solid book up until now and hopefully this tie-in issue will continue that trend.
New Mutants
Issue 29
Marvel Comics
Writer – Danny Lore
Artist – Guillermo Sanna
Letterer – Travis Lanham
Buy on Comixology – New Mutants #29 (Link)
SIBLING REVIVAL! Gabby and Karma have gone missing…and it’s up to Daken and James Proudstar to track them down! Stained by their own sense of failures concerning their respective siblings—Daken’s guilt over not being able to protect Gabby from the Shadow King and Warpath’s avoidance in reuniting with the recently resurrected John Proudstar—the two must face their own insecurities in order to find the young mutants.
All change! New writers and artists are taking over as we head in to the last few issues of what has arguably been the best of the Krakoa Age books. No tie-in to the current Judgement Day storyline but hopefully they are still tying up all those loose ends from the previous issues. I’m not sure I like the new artist as much as Rod Reis, but let’s give it a try.
New Fantastic Four
Issue 4
Marvel Comics
Writer – Peter David
Artist – Alan Robinson
Colourist – Mike Spicer
Letterer – Joe Caramagna
Buy on Comixology – New Fantastic Four #4 (Link)
HELL IN A HANDBASKET, PART 4
The New Fantastic Four’s battle with the demonically possessed Human Torch continues—and if Wolverine can’t control his berserker rage, the Torch is toast! When the villainous mastermind behind all this chaos is uncovered, it’s going to take some extra firepower to turn the tide. And what in the world is…syzygy?!
Gloriously dumb fun. Actually, that description does the book a disservice. This book has been a nostalgic romp, that shows we can still have some fun escapades with our loveable heroes.
She-Hulk
Issue 6
Marvel Comics
Writer – Rainbow Rowell
Artist – Luca Maresca
Colourist – Rico Renzi
Letterer – Joe Caramagna
Buy on Comixology – She-Hulk #6 (Link)
The smash hit of 2022 rolls on with its best issue yet. Nightcrawler visits Book Law, but what does HE need legal defense for? And one of the greatest traditions in Marvel Comics history continues here!
LEGACY #169
Have you been enjoying the Disney+ She-Hulk series? Then you may just like this latest run of Jennifer Walters adventures. Rainbow Rowell and here co-creators have been doing a grand job of bring Jen back in to the mainstream of Marvel books. Fun, cute and loveable, this is a great little series.
