Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, meandering, monsters and Marvel.

The first of this week’s Early Access games is Anomaly President, a game where you run for political office during the day, and at night you stalk the streets, murdering bad guys in frantic run-and-gun action. Developed by Phew Phew Games.
Liquidation is a classic-style RTS set in a world between fantasy and sci-fi, where demons, zealots and powered-up frogmen battle for supremacy. Developed by Divio and published by MicroProse.

Let’s kick off this rapid-fire selection this week with the inevitable cosy selection. Fields of Mistria (PC / NPC Studio) is a 90s anime farm sim emerging from Early Access this week, Capy Castaway (PC / Kitten Cup Studio, Big Blue Sky Games) is a cute little game about a capybara and his crow friend exploring a deserted island, ReStory: Chill Electronic Repairs (PC / Mandragora, TinyBuild) is a game about working in an electronics repair shop in Tokyo, Spiritstead (PC / Turbo Dog Games, Wings) is a city builder about helping townsfolk with the help of spirits, and finally, Block Block Block (PC / Aender Lara) is a game about building tiny spaces out of wooden blocks.
Moving from cosy games to sims, Chop Chop Inc (PC / NullRef Entertainment, Rokaplay) is also about building things out of wood, but sees you running a furniture shop where you must process and build all the furniture yourself, and on the darker side of the sim scale, Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator (PC / Nick Nieuwoudt & Dominik Latos) is about manning a ridiculously huge heavy artillery weapon intended to dominate some unseen war.
Couple of RPGs of different flavours this week. Hellslave II: Judgment of the Archon (PC / Ars Goetia, Dear Villagers) is a dark, moody dungeon crawler (uh oh) that utilises tile-based turn-based combat, while Sovereign Tower (PC / Wild Wits Games, Curve Games) is an RPG built around managing an unruly band of knights at your round table.
Onto deckbuilders now, as Montabi (PC, Switch 2 / Mankibo, Akupara Games) brings deckbuilding to a Pokémon style setup, while Talespinner (PC, Switch 1 / Flash Cat Games, Kwalee) sees you battling Japanese mythological creatures to shape your character’s destiny.
In action games, we have a couple of roguelikes, Gunstoppable (PC / CAGE Studios) brings roguelike elements to a boomer shooter, while Rogue Eclipse (PC / Huskrafts, Outersloth) brings roguelike elements to a grand space shooter. We also have Echobreaker (PC / Upstream Arcade, Weekend Games) which is not a roguelike but is still in the spirit of high action as you work to move through isometric maps as quickly a possible while trying not to die.
We, Junk Artists (PC) is a party game about using junk to create art. Or rather, I guess a simpler way to explain this is that it’s Pictionary, but you can only craft things into vague shapes rather than just drawing them. Pretty neat concept. Developed by Perfect Day Studio and published by Spiral Up Games.
Beast of Reincarnation (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) is a big action RPG from…hang on, am I reading this right? Apparently so. Game Freak are the developers, best known for the Pokémon series, and this is so unlike Pokémon you could be forgiven for being as surprised as I was when it was first announced. Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan where the world has been corrupted and the lands are stalked by horrible beasts fused with plants. You play as Emma, a young woman who has the power to shut down these beasts, accompanied by a dog named Koo. Think of something like Monster Hunter crossed with the world of Princess Mononoke.
A few months ago, Sony announced a new fight stick designed for the PS5, and to accompany it, they also revealed a fighting game to play on it. No, it’s not PlayStation All-Stars 2, but it is still a crossover of sorts. Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls (PC, PS5) brings together the characters of Marvel comics with the aesthetics and mechanics of Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works. Your favourite superheroes have never been this anime before.

Game of the Week is Big Walk (PC, PS5, Switch 2), a game about going on a nice stroll with friends.
If you’ve been wondering what the developers of Untitled Goose Game have been up to since 2019, wonder no more. House House have been working on a big island for you and your friends to drop into and wander round in. As the name suggests, your goal is to go on a big walk, explore around and enjoy spending time with friends.
This is an adorable little game that caught my attention from the moment it was announced. It’s not a complex game, as you truly are just going on a virtual hike with friends, but it’s got the same charm that made Untitled Goose Game such a delight. This is mainly thanks to its weird lil guys that you play as. However, the level of enjoyment you’ll get out of this is almost certainly going to depend on how many friends you can wrangle onto your massive stroll.
