Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, mostly woodland animals, some of whom are doing a barrel roll.
If I have made any errors in my coverage this week, please understand. It is too hot. Play Deer & Boy and also Dimhaven as the second honorary Game of the Week (I played the demo, it is good). I am going to put my head in the freezer now bye.

Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is a Switch 2 release of DMC5. Contains all the DLC content added to the original game on other systems, including Vergil as a playable character. Having played the PS4 version, I can confirm this is one hell of a party so if you have a Switch 2 and somehow haven’t played it already, now’s a good time to pick this up.
Speaking of Switch releases, Wanderstop is coming to both generations of Nintendo’s system this week. It’s a gentle game about running a tea shop in the woods, but with an added layer of telling a story about dealing with burnout. Sadly didn’t do as well as it could have on other systems (which has sadly led to the closure of the studio), so if you haven’t checked it out until now, give it a try on Nintendo’s systems.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) is an enhanced re-release of the sixth instalment of the boobiest fighting game on the market. Now with all DLC characters included and a new Photo Mode because of course that’s what they prioritised.

Despite having a subtitle that sounds like some kind of Tomb Raider style porn parody, Sand: Raiders of Sophie is, in fact, a survival game about managing a gigantic sand crawler on a desert planet (called Sophie, for some reason). Build, maintain and battle your crawler in search of buried treasure. Developed by Hologryph & TowerHaus and published by TinyBuild.
Empulse is a parkour-based FPS from the developers of portal-based FPS Splitgate, 1047 Games. In teams of 6v6, you must use the environment to dodge, weave and get the upper hand on your opponents through sick wallruns and jumps.

In smaller releases, we have Pawsome Resort (PC / Pixel Puffs, GameDev.ist) about running an animal hotel, Clover’s Quadrants (PC / Two-Headed Deer) which is a puzzle game about slotting abilities into your movement controls and Moldwasher (PC / Rubel Games, Anshar Publishing) which is Powerwash Simulator but more pixelated.
Kiyo: Bunny Tyranny (PC, Switch 1) is a strange little adventure game where you play an “ex-predator” cat in a dystopian city run by rabbits. Expect a lot of stealth as you stalk around trying to put an end to the bunny regime. Developed by Pixel Rats and published by CobraTekku Games.
Dark Scrolls (PC, Switch 1) is a 2D platformer roguelike from doinksoft (Gato Roboto, Gunbrella) and Devolver Digital. Trailers suggest this has a ton of personality but reviews suggest that its poor handling of roguelike mechanics makes it not particularly enjoyable to play. Shame.
Dimhaven: The Lost Source (PC) is a puzzle adventure game set on the titular island, where a young woman goes in search of her missing uncle. Use your camera to take pictures and solve the mysteries across the island. From Zadbox Entertainment, who also developed the Myst-like Quern (and there are elements of Myst here too, just not as prominent judging by the trailers).
Once again, Nintendo revisit Star Fox 64 instead of giving the team a new adventure through the stars. Simply named Star Fox (Switch 2) and developed by Mario Kart Live developers Velan Studios, this remake takes you through all the beats of the original game and gives it a fresh new lick of paint.

Game of the Week is Deer & Boy (PC, PS5, Switch 1, Xbox X/S), a game about a boy and his deer that may or may not make you cry.
You play as a runaway boy who discovers a small fawn out in the wilds. They form a bond and set out on an adventure together, facing adversity as a duo. Gameplay-wise, this is a cinematic platformer, so expect a lot of slow movement and puzzle solving, most likely with the titular characters working together.
Like I said, this is a game that’s almost certainly going to end in tears. I don’t know for sure, as I have yet to play it, but it gives that vibe. A child and an animal companion, gentle vibes and artsy visuals? Yeah, this is not going to be a happy game about frolicking in the woods. I mean, it mostly is, but there’s going to be something to get in the way of that eventually. But it is a very sweet looking game so I have to make it Game of the Week. Now if I could just stop hearing Kratos saying the title in my head, that would be nice. Developed by Lifeline Games and published by Dear Villagers.
