Hello! Welcome to the latest Geeky Brummie Games Release Roundup!
This week, exactly two games.
You know, I almost considered not bothering this week. On Monday I had a release list of five games and when I looked them over to check them, two were delayed and a third game was only there due to a confusion over what the date in its reveal trailer meant. So here we are. Exactly two games.
It would be a pretty reasonable decision to just bin the entire thing at this point and come back next week. But do you know what? I pushed through to cover a busier release schedule last week when drowning in my own sweat from the heatwave so I can spend ten minutes writing up both of this week’s game releases in a cool breezy temperature. So let’s get going, shall we?

Cat Squeeze (PC) is a cute little puzzle game about a cat invited to participate in the Cat God Trial where an abundance of dried fish await. This is basically Sokoban but you can squeeze through pipes and break stuff to make room for yourself. Adorable artwork, silly concept, and technically it’s Indie Game of the Week by default too. Developed by Cattery Studio and Pone Games.

Game of the Week this week, again mainly by default, is Rhythm Paradise Groove (Switch 1), better known as Rhythm Heaven Groove in places that aren’t Europe.
It’s been 15 years since Nintendo last put out a Rhythm Heaven game, but the principle has basically not changed. You take part in a series of silly minigames where your objective is to press a button on the correct beats to catapult frogs, put up umbrellas or clean a skyscraper. Also there’s an RPG mode now where you cast spells using rhythmic inputs, and multiplayer games.
I will admit, I’ve never really played a Rhythm Heaven before. The main thing I know about them is the one stage in the Wii game where a wrestler gets interviewed by a journalist who asks “wubba dubba dubba that true?” so I do at least understand the vibe. I’m a big fan of Nintendo just having fun with their weirder ideas and this is absolutely that so while it is technically getting Game of the Week by default, I’m not really handing it out begrudgingly.
