The Geeky Brummie Pull List with Damn Them All #7
We have 10 new comics for you on the Pull List this week. The Comic of the Week title is Damn Them All #7 from BOOM! Studios. The other 7 comics on the List come from Image Comics, DC Black Label, DC Comics, IDW Publishing and Marvel Comics. Our On The Radar selection includes 2 comics from IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics. No MEANWHILE… again this week as I’ve been short of time.
If you want to send any comics or details of any comic related events we should feature, feel free to reach out to me at keith@geekybrummie.com or comics@geekybrummie.com
Now on with the comics…
Damn Them All
Issue 7
BOOM! Studios
Script – Simon Spurrier
Art – Charlie Adlard
Colours – Sofie Dodgson
Buy digitally on Comixology – Damn Them All #7 (Link)
Undoing the Afterlife’s doom will be no easy task, and Ellie will have to try anything she can-and the corpse of her occultist uncle may be the key.
However, fans can expect some unexpected and hellish twists into the heist genre, as the body of Bloody El’s late uncle is a prize feverishly sought after by her enemies.
And as if Ellie’s plate wasn’t full enough, a love thought lost to the past makes a return, changing things forever…
Yes, Damn Them All is back! This has been one of the best new series in recent years and makes up for losing Spurrier’s Hellblazer, a few years back. Ellie is an interesting new take on the rough and ready magician trope and this series is definitely one you should be checking out. Can’t wait to get started on this new story arc.
Weird Work
Issue 2
Image Comics
Script – Jordan Thomas
Art – Shaky Kane
Buy digitally on Comixology – Weird Work #2 (Link)
With things heating up, Ovra and Donut find themselves in increasingly dangerous and strange situations as forces from all sides converge to stop them uncovering the truth of the dockside triple homicide.
Bullets fly, new suspects appear, and Ovra goes on one wild trip. It’s weird work-but somebody’s gotta do it.
Is it weird? Yes, it is. Is it work? Hell no, this is an absolute joy to read. Thomas and Kane make a dynamic duo who are throwing everything into this incredible detective tale. Shaky’s art is spectacular and the world it represents is built sturdily on the words of Thomas. Deserves a massive audience.
Danger Street
Issue 8
DC Black Label
Script – Tom King
Art – Jorge Fornés
Colours – Dave Stewart
Letters – Clayton Cowles
Buy digitally on Comixology – Danger Street #8 (Link)
The secret origin of the Green Team and Outsiders revealed! Meanwhile, the Commodore has revenge on the brain as he sends his knight, a.k.a. Assassin, to eliminate Manhunter. Do the good guys even stand a chance? With the real superheroes out of commission, the Dingbats may be the universe’s only hope!
If you’ve been sleeping on this book because you don’t know the main characters, you’re missing out on one of the best books around. King and his team are delivering an exciting tale of complicated morality. What is good and what is evil? These are the questions posed in this thoroughly enjoyable series.
Knight Terrors: Zatanna
Issue 2
DC Comics
Script – Dennis Culver
Art – David Baldeón
Colours – Rain Beredo
Letters – Pat Brosseau
Buy digitally on Comixology – Knight Terrors: Zatanna #2 (Link)
TARGETED BY THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS! Insomnia’s Sleepless Queen has transformed Robotman into one of her knights, and now the hunt is on for Zatanna to join them! If the Sleepless Knights succeed in making her one of their own, the Earth will never wake from its unending nightmare. Powerful magic comes with a powerful price, so Zatanna must decide whether she’s willing to pay it to save the world. Which means things aren’t looking good for Robotman!
This second and final issue makes the Pull List after I picked up the first issue due to the Doom Patrol connection. I’ve not been reading any of the other Knight Terrors books, but this two parter has been a great read, especially considering the connection Cliff and Zatanna have. Stands on its own, but has made me curious about other DC books.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Echoes
Issue 4
IDW Publishing
Script – Marc Guggenheim
Art – Oleg Chudakov
Buy digitally on Comixology – Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Echoes #4 (Link)
Tensions are at an all-time high with Chekov in a dire medical state while his evil doppelgänger, Akris, is supplying the Romulans with the Nightbringer weapon. The Enterprise crew’s mission is clear: infiltrate the Romulan dreadnought and destroy the Nightbringer before Akris can bring the destruction he’s inflicted upon his universe into theirs. But can Kirk and Nyota set their differences aside to ensure a peaceful resolution and avoid sparking a war with the Romulans?
I hear this series has not been everyones cup of tea, but I’ve been enjoying revisiting this era of Star Trek. The designs and costumes of the era haven’t really had a chance to shine like this before and I really do hope IDW come back with at least one more mini-series set in this time.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Issue 5
Marvel Comics
Script – Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly
Art – Kev Walker
Colours – Matt Hollingsworth

LEGACY #185

Immortal X-Men
Issue 14
Marvel Comics
Script – Kieron Gillen
Art – Lucas Werneck
Colours – David Curiel
Letters – Clayton Cowles
Buy digitally on Comixology – Immortal X-Men #14 (Link)
TO ME, MY NO ONE. Xavier had a dream. Now he has nothing. This is the Fall of X. He fell. He fell furthest.
I love the Planet of the Apes vibe this cover is giving off. The Fall of X has begun, will things ever be the same again?
The Amazing Spider-Man
Issue 31
Marvel Comics
Script – Dan Slott, Zeb Wells and Kaare Andrews
Art – Kaare Andrews, Patrick Gleason, Mark Bagley, David López, Paco Medina, Emilio Laiso, Albert Monteys, Ze Carlos, Alba Glez, John Romita Jr. and Scott Hanna
Colours – Marcio Menyz and Bryan Valenza
Letters – Joe Caramagna

SPECIAL OVER-SIZED ISSUE! IT’S THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR! Peter Parker is the best man, and Tombstone is walking the bride down the aisle! That’s right—Janice Lincoln and Randy Robertson are tying the knot, and there’s NO WAY all the crime bosses in NYC aren’t seeing this as an opportunity to off Tombstone. This story sets up our big Spider-Event of Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s second year on ASM, and that’s just the HALF of it! Also in this issue: bachelor/bachelorette parties, other ASM-story preludes, glimpses of some of the biggest unannounced Spider-projects and extra bonus awesomeness!
LEGACY #925
A massive over-sized issue with the return of Tombstone. This issue will determine if I keep Spidey on my Pull, so there is a lot riding on this one.
On the radar, some other comics not on the Pull List but well worth checking out:
Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons #2
IDW Publishing
Script – Frank Tieri
Art – Inaki Miranda
Buy digitally from Comixology – Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons #2 (Link)
Sir Francis Drake and his crew have reached the edge of the world… and Godzilla lives there! Rather than fear this monstrous “dragon,” however, the expedition’s resident scoundrel Henry Hull sees opportunity. He believes that the pirate who was last in possession of a great treasure passed by the desert island that Godzilla seemingly protects, and what better place to hide a fortune than one guarded by a creature most would be too cowardly to go near. But Hull doesn’t have time to plot his own expedition to liberate the treasure before the Spanish Armada arrives!
Maskerade #7
Dark Horse Comics
Script – Kevin Smith
Art – John Sprengelmeyer and Giulia Gualazzi
Colours – Giulia Brusco
Letters – Andrew Thomas
Buy digitally on Comixology – Maskerade #7 (Link)
Maskerade bludgeons her way through the belly of the beast-digging out dirty David Ditt on his home turf. But Trenchen’s terrible tyrant turns the tables and traps our intrepid heroine. Will Felicia flourish? Or plunge into even greater peril?
