Now on with the comics…

Of the Earth #1
IMAGE COMICS
By Chris Condon, Andrew Ehrich, Charlie Adlard, Pip Martin and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Of the Earth #1 (Link)
Legendary artist CHARLIE ADLARD (THE WALKING DEAD) joins writers CHRIS CONDON (THAT TEXAS BLOOD) & ANDREW EHRICH, colorist PIP MARTIN (EVERYTHING DEAD & DYING), letterer HASSAN OTSMANE-ELHAOU (ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS), and designer MIKE TIVEY (NEWS FROM THE FALLOUT) for his triumphant return to Image Comics in this neo-noir-tinged eco-horror miniseries that is Blood Simple meets John Carpenter’s The Thing.
Tabitha ‘Tabby’ Black flees a sordid life for her quiet hometown of Solitude, Texas and the comfort of her Gramma’s home where she was raised. Only home isn’t what it once was…. and neither is Gramma.
Of the Earth #1 is a moody, slow-burning debut, blending quiet character tension with an undercurrent of dread. The narrative leans into isolation and ambiguity, trusting readers to absorb its unsettling rhythm. This first issue prioritizes feeling over answers, planting intriguing seeds for what’s to come. A restrained but effective opener that promises a haunting, character-led journey ahead. Don’t sleep on this one as it looks like it is already selling out in some places.

The Rocketfellers #0
IMAGE COMICS · GHOST MACHINE
By Peter J. Tomasi, Francis Manapul and Rob Leigh
Buy from Forbidden Planet – The Rocketfellers #0 (Link)
Among us are…the Unbelievables! A bold new era begins as the Rocketfeller family picks up the pieces after Roland’s death disappearance, and are now caretakers of their deadliest foe, the amnesiac Raina Rocketfeller. But they’re not the only ones looking for Roland, as the Trillion Dollar Kid makes his world debut—and the family from the future recalls what it was like to begin their life in our present.
The Rocketfellers #0 arrives as a key entry point into Image Comics’ Who Are the Unbelievables? event, setting the stage with a high-concept mix of time displacement and family drama. This introductory chapter hints at larger connections within the shared narrative, weaving intrigue and unanswered questions into its fast-moving setup. Balancing action with grounded emotional beats, it establishes both the stakes and the mystery driving the event forward. With sleek visuals and confident pacing, the issue offers an accessible gateway for new readers while laying crucial groundwork. It’s an engaging prelude that promises bigger revelations across the unfolding crossover.

Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #1
DARK HORSE COMICS · CURIOUS OBJECTS
By Mike Mignola, Tom Sniegoski, Craig Rousseau, Chris O’Halloran and Clem Robins
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #1 (Link)
Scarlett’s reputation has finally caught up with her. After vanquishing one too many villains, she’s forced out of hiding and into an uneasy alliance with a mysterious feline figure known as The Ghost Leopard. Together, the unlikely duo faces off against new enemies in a pulpy saga packed with danger, monsters, and airborne action — exactly the kind of story that would thrill Hellboy himself.
Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #1 delivers a brisk, all-ages romp that captures the charm and curiosity of Hellboy’s early years. Framed as a pulpy adventure, the story leans into imagination and wonder, sending its young hero into airborne escapades filled with strange foes and offbeat humor. The tone is lighter than typical Hellboy tales, but still tinged with the supernatural weirdness fans expect. Bright, expressive visuals and playful pacing make it especially inviting for newer readers. As a starting point, it offers a self-contained adventure while celebrating the character’s enduring spirit of exploration and mischief.

Babylon Cove #1
MAD CAVE STUDIOS
By Rafer Roberts, Joe Eisma, Marissa Louise and Crank
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Babylon Cove #1 (Link)
This is a story about Heather, a no-nonsense career-gal who returns to her picturesque New England hometown for the first time in a decade to attend a family funeral; Dennis, the all-American dreamboat who broke Heather’s heart in high school; Charlie, the late-blooming shy boy who Heather never gave the time of day, and Karthon, the ancient demon with plans to feast on the flesh of everyone in town.
If you ever wondered what would happen if Stephen King were allowed to write one of those Hallmark holiday movies…Welcome to BABYLON COVE.
Babylon Cove #1 opens on a seemingly quiet coastal town hiding something far stranger beneath its surface. Blending mystery with an undercurrent of unease, the issue slowly reveals a community shaped by secrets, memory, and something otherworldly lingering just out of sight. The story leans into atmosphere, letting tension build through character interactions and subtle clues rather than outright exposition. A clean, expressive visual style and carefully controlled pacing draw readers deeper into the town’s unsettling rhythm. As an introduction, it plants intriguing questions and hints at darker forces at play, offering a compelling and quietly eerie start to the series.

Star Trek: The Last Starship #7
IDW PUBLISHING
By Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Hernan Gonzalez, Lee Loughridge and Clayton Cowles
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Star Trek: The Last Starship #7 (Link)
The crew of the U.S.S. Omega are desperately trying to hold the Federation’s vision of a united Galaxy together, but they’re failing. The spirit of cooperation is dead, but Starfleet’s mission might not be, thanks to a research station on the aptly named Deep Space Hope. There, one last shining ray of possibility remains in an ever-darkening universe. A way to put everything back in its rightful place… if only Sato and his crew are bold enough to seize it.
Star Trek: The Last Starship #7 continues the series’ gripping exploration of survival, identity, and the limits of hope in deep space. As tensions escalate, the crew faces difficult choices that test both their unity and their ideals, pushing the narrative into more complex emotional territory. The issue balances character-driven drama with mounting stakes, delivering a sense of momentum that keeps the story engaging. I’ve been really enjoying this series so far, and this chapter only deepens that investment. With sharp pacing, striking visuals, and meaningful developments, it stands as another strong, compelling installment in an already impressive run.
