The Geeky Brummie Pull List with Gatchaman: Galactor
I have a nice selection of 10 comics in the Pull List for you this week. Our Comic of the Week is Gatchaman: Galactor from Mad Cave Studios. The other comics on the main pull list come from Image Comics, Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Our On The Radar selection includes 4 new comics from Image Comics, IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics. In MEANWHILE... we have some great new Kickstarter campaigns from Laguna Studios and Time Bomb Comics you do not want to miss..
Galactor is under siege by a threat from within! After a secret attempt on his life, Berg Katse sets about to uncover a conspiracy within Galactor, born of their earliest days. Galactor’s leader goes undercover to hunt, identify, and ruthlessly dispense with a revolution growing within Galactor’s ranks. The masked villain Berg Katse must root out a conspiracy within Galactor, the sinister organization that plagues Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. The first issue in an all-new miniseries that expands upon the ongoing series!
This looks like another positive start for Mad Cave Studios’ new Gatchaman mini-series. The story, a blend of classic science fiction and superhero elements, revolves around villain Berg Katse’s (otherwise know as Zoltar, if you are a Battle of the Planets viewer) quest to uncover a conspiracy within the evil Galactor organization. As they investigate, they seek to identify and eliminate the threat growing within Galactor’s ranks. The issue sets the stage for an intriguing miniseries that will expand upon the ongoing Gatchaman universe.

Back in 2022 Laguna Studios launches a Kickstarter campaign to bring us the first volume of The Art of Ian Richardson, which smashed its funding goal by 577%. Now they are back with a second volume, collecting more art from Ian, included previously unseen pieces. I was a backer of the first campaign, and have already backed this one, and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Below is the official blurb from the campaign and a gallery of images from the collection. Below that is the link to the Kickstarter page where you can pledge and grab perks like T-shirts and commission pieces right now!
Welcome to the Art of Ian Richardson Volume 2! This book is a compilation of commissions, large and small, as well as personal warm-up pieces and color pieces with the assistance of colorists.
We’ve collected over 60 pages of artwork in this volume, AS WELL AS some fun captions and comments Ian wrote for many of the pieces as a personal touch! The book will be A4size and perfect bound!
This book contains work that Ian has created since Volume 1 was published, including fanart, commission work, and even doodles done for warmup and fun!
Here’s a gallery of some of the work you’ll see in this collection:

WesterNoir: Double Shot!
Both WesterNoir: Vol 3 in the saga of Josiah Black and the complete WesterNoir: Moon Cursed collection!
Those fine folks over at Time Bomb Comics also have a new Kickstarter campaign running for their WesterNoir Universe stories. Check out the blurb for the campaign below along with a selection of images from the books.
Welcome to this very special Kickstarter for the latest volumes of the critically-acclaimed WesterNoir western horror series that was originally conceived by creators Dave West & Gary Crutchley.
The WesterNoir universe is a wonderful blend of genre cliches and real surprises. The characters are strong and have presence on the page. Some of the creatures have a ‘mis-understood monster’ feel to them that only works because of the quality of the characterisation. The setting is engaging and pulls you uncontrollably from one story to the next.
But the world of WesternNoir is expanding, so this campaign offers the opportunity not only to get the third 176 page volume in the Saga of Josiah Black but also the self-contained one-shot Moon Cursed marking the debut of mysterious female gun-slinger Mrs Jones…
WesterNoir: The Saga of Josiah Black, Volume 3
Last time we saw Josiah Black he had failed to even the score with Caligary and was left for dead. Volume 3 picks up with Josiah, unsure about why he still lives, being picked up by a travelling salesman. But fate doesn’t leave men like him alone and he soon finds that the salesman has his own haunted past and that that past is fasts catching up with him, or is he catching up with it?
WesterNoir: The Saga of Josiah Black Volume 3 is a mighty tome – 176 pages of original storytelling from Dave West and Gary Crutchley, with colourist Matt Soffe. This softcover, matt-laminated original graphic novel will be full colour with french flaps to match the the two previous volumes (also previously successfully Kickstarted and available with this campaign).
WesterNoir: Moon Cursed
Originally serialised in Time Bomb’s Quantum anthology, WesterNoir: Moon Cursed, is a completely original story in the WesterNoir setting that introduces a mysterious new character, known only as Mrs. Jones Travelling in a wagon train, Mrs. Jones finds herself and her fellow travellers the prey of a pack of wolves, and maybe something worse. Will she survive the encounter and if she does, will she be the only one?
WesterNoir: Moon Cursed is co-written by Dave & Jemma West, with moody, gothic artwork from newcomer Joseph Parangue. Colourist Matt Soffe completes the creative team. This is a 48 page, full-colour, matt-laminated trade paperback, and is the first release under the new Quantum Dynamic imprint from Time Bomb Comics.
The same, but different…
The two WesterNoir books that make up this campaign take place in a shared setting, but can be read independently of one another.
Rather than run a separate Kickstarter for each book, we thought offering both books through a single campaign would make it easier for supporters of the previous campaigns to get the latest WesterNoir stories, new readers to catch up with series, and all backers to get both new books with a combined shipping cost.
However, it is recommended that you read the first 2 volumes in The Saga of Josiah Black before diving into Volume 3!
You can pledge to support this campaign over at the WesterNoir: Double Shot Kickstarter page – HERE (Link)
