Detective Kaiju #1
Massive Publishing
By Michael Calero and Kit Wallis
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Detective Kaiju #1 (Link)
From the pages of the fan-favorite series “Quested” comes a noir comic of epic proportion! Detective Kaiju the hardboiled investigator gets his own mini-series with Quested’s Michael Calero (American Psycho) and Kit Wallis (High On Life) reuniting on the 3 part murder mystery.
In this debut issue, Detective Kaiju’s past catches up with him when the body of an old friend is discovered in South Faerbraun. Now he must face the demons of his past while investigating the unusual murder.
Blending noir grit with kaiju spectacle this bold, imaginative debut follows a trenchcoat-wearing monster detective investigating a murder in the dark alleys of South Faerbraun. The writing is sharp, the mystery engaging, and the art stylishly gritty, capturing both the noir tone and monstrous scale.

Mommy Blog #1
Image Comics/Ninth Circle
By Marguerite Bennett and Eleonora Carlini
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Mommy Blog #1 (Link)
In this scathing, brutal, outrageous black comedy, Astrid is an aspiring social media “super mommy” keeping tabs on her glamorous gated community after the disappearances of several neighborhood children. Certain a predator is afoot, she turns all of her cunning, creativity, sugar, and spice to catching the killer — and if her rivals for “Mommy of the Year” get caught in the path of the chainsaw, well, you have to break a few eggs to make a cruelty-free omelette, don’t you?
From writer MARGUERITE BENNETT (WITCHBLADE and writer/creator of Animosity) and artist ELEONORA CARLINI (Captain Marvel and Vicarious) comes this unsettling black comedy that shows what horror can lurk even within the hearts of a suburban mom! It’s Carrie meets Fatal Attraction! From NINTH CIRCLE, bringing you the BEST horror by the industry’s TOP creative talent!
A razor-sharp, darkly comic thriller that skewers influencer culture and suburban perfection. Bennett’s writing is biting and satirical, blending true crime tropes with influencer absurdity. Carlini’s art is vibrant and expressive, balancing horror and humour with flair. It’s outrageous, unsettling, and wickedly fun—a twisted Desperate Housewives meets Dexter.

Star Trek: Lore War – Shaxs’ Worst Day #1
IDW Publishing
By Ryan North, Derek Charm and Clayton Cowles
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Star Trek: Lore War – Shaxs’ Worst Day #1 (Link)
From the team who brought you the Ringo- and Eisner-nominated Shaxs’ Best Day comes a rip-roaring ride full of clever ship high jinks, nonstop badassery, and bombastic punches… because at the end of the day, let’s face it. It’s not Shaxs’ worst day. It’s fascism’s.
Shaxs had his best day, but now that the universe has been rewritten by the mad android Lore, he’s about to have his worst. Starfleet has been distorted into a machinery of oppression antithetical to everything it once stood for, and Shaxs has been made into the one thing he despises most in the universe: a fascist.
Now free of Lore’s hold over his mind, it’s up to Shaxs to revert everyone in Starfleet back to their old selves and save the cosmos.
Following the Eisner-nominated Shaxs’ Best Day, this one-shot flips the tone entirely. In a universe rewritten by the rogue android Lore, Starfleet has become a fascist regime—and Bajoran bruiser Shaxs is now its enforcer. But when he breaks free of Lore’s control, he’s forced to confront the monster he’s become. It’s a wild ride full of punches, pathos, and political commentary.

Gargoyles: Demona #1
Dynamite
By Greg Weisman, Frank Paur and Robby Bevard
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Gargoyles: Demona #1 (Link)
A THOUSAND YEARS OF ADVENTURE BEGINS HERE!
After kicking off with a special prologue story in Dynamite Entertainment’s Free Comic Book Day issue #0, the long-awaited tale of Goliath’s former love and sworn enemy of the Manhattan Clan gets underway in earnest with a return to the Dark Ages and the aftermath of the destruction of Castle Wyvern!
The year is 1093, and the now-immortal Demona has become a lonely and hunted creature. Bereft of both clan and home after her betrayal of Scotland’s king, she wanders south to Northumberland in search of a safe haven – only to find that her old nemesis, Canmore, is raiding the city.
Canmore’s destruction is visited upon human and Gargoyle alike, and when she discovers the depths of his cruelty and the fate of her kind at his hands, Demona’s fury sets in motion a cycle of vengeance that will last for centuries – and may yet consume the entire world!
Written by Gargoyles creator GREG WEISMAN and illustrated by acclaimed artist – and veteran of the original animated series – FRANK PAUR, this first chapter of the brand-new, centuries-spanning saga Gargoyles: Demona features cover art for the ages from PAUR, MEGHAN HETRICK, MARK SPEARS, and JAE LEE & JUNE CHUNG!
Demona returns in a powerful solo spotlight that dives deep into her relentless pursuit of magical dominance. Greg Weisman, creator of the original Gargoyles series, brings his signature blend of myth, emotion, and sharp dialogue, while Pasquale Qualano’s art captures both the grandeur and menace of Demona’s quest.
