Now on with the comics…

If Destruction Be Our Lot #1
IMAGE COMICS
By Matthew Rosenberg, Mark Elijah Rosenberg, Andy MacDonald, Francesco Segala, Gloria Martinelli and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Buy from Forbidden Planet – If Destruction Be Our Lot #1 (Link)
Humanity is extinct and all that remains are the robots who once helped us. The robots who once helped us are happier now, doing their work without human interference. But not Abe. He believes there must be something more out there. After nearly getting killed, he’s determined to wander the Earth until he finds it — or gets recycled trying. Brilliant artist ANDY MACDONALD (Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman), and adequate writers MARK ELIJAH ROSENBERG (Approaching the Unknown, Year Million) and MATTHEW ROSENBERG (WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US, 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank) bring you an ongoing sci-fi adventure about finding purpose, holding onto hope, and really lonely robots.
If Destruction Be Our Lot #1 is an evocative, quietly unsettling sci‑fi debut that uses a post‑human world of robots to explore loneliness, purpose, and hope. Matthew Rosenberg — one of my favourite writers working in comics today — brings his trademark emotional sharpness to the script, working seamlessly with his brother, film director, writer, editor and producer Mark Elijah Rosenberg, to craft an introspective yet darkly funny opening chapter. With expressive artwork, and moody colours, this gives this empty world real weight, while the lettering keeps the humanity alive. Thoughtful, strange, and surprisingly tender, this is a strong and compelling start to Image Comics’ latest ongoing series.

Dog Tag #1
MAD CAVE STUDIOS
By Mark Russell, P. J. Holden, J. P. Jordan and Buddy Beaudoin
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Dog Tag #1 (Link)
Dog Tag is a fictional story about a very real war. It follows the life and thoughts of Corporal Tom Fuller through the final year of World War II as his service takes him from the invasion of Normandy to the surrender of Japan. Borrowed from real world stories and little known events of the war, Dog Tag asks big questions about the war while focusing on the heroism of the ordinary people who lived and died during the conflict.
Dog Tag #1 lands with the kind of sharp intent you expect when Russell is let loose on power, patriotism and institutional hypocrisy, and it doesn’t disappoint. Russell’s script balances dark satire with genuine moral weight, setting up a story that feels both grimly topical and deeply personal. Holden’s art is a perfect match: clean, expressive, and quietly devastating in its depiction of bodies shaped by war and systems that discard them. Meanwhile, the colours and lettering keep the tone grounded and readable. As a fan of these creators’ past work, this debut feels confident, angry, and uncomfortably relevant..

Ben 10 #1
DYNAMITE
By Steven T. Seagle, Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Robert Carey, Ren Spillera and Taylor Esposito
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Ben 10 #1 (Link)
A fresh take on a 21st Century classic! Fan favorite BEN 10 returns in an all-new series that will appeal to longtime fans and new readers alike. When a mysterious meteor crashes to Earth, 10-year-old Ben Tennyson discovers the Omnitrix, a high-tech alien gauntlet of incredible power and potential. With this device on his wrist, Ben has the power to transform into incredible alien forms. But can he control this power? If the story sounds familiar, think again!
This is the modern, definitive take on Ben 10 from the team that created him – Man of Action – kicking off with writer Joe Casey, joined by amazing artist Robert Carey, with covers by Carey, Man of Action member Duncan Rouleau, Dustin Nguyen, Sebastian Piriz, and a special MYSTERY VARIANT BLIND BAG containing one limited edition of the issue selected randomly from a range of covers exclusive to this offering! Please The number of Blind Bags is limited, and allocations may occur.
Dynamite’s Ben 10 #1 feels like a confident reboot that respects the cartoon’s DNA while sharpening it for comics readers. This debut issue bring a punchy, character‑first story that frames Ben’s chaos as fun rather than noise, while elastic, expressive art suits the fast transformations and high‑energy action. This opener leans into attitude, humour and clarity, setting up stakes without over‑explaining. It’s accessible for newcomers, rewarding for fans, and a smart statement of intent rather than a nostalgia exercise.

The Muppets Noir #3
DYNAMITE
By Roger Langridge and Dearbhla Kelly
Buy from Forbidden Planet – The Muppets Noir #3 (Link)
HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT! While Kermit the Frog continues his concussed convalescence on The Muppet Theatre’s green room couch, his alter ego Flip Minnow, P.I., is about to catch a break in his missing persons case beyond the wall of sleep. A mysterious package delivered to his office turns out to be his quarry’s diary, which gives the amphibious investigator a new set of leads to run down — including a revelatory encounter inside a skee-ball speakeasy!
Veteran comics puppeteer ROGER LANGRIDGE leads readers deeper into The Muppets’ collective unconscious in The Muppets Noir #3 — featuring intriguingly analytical covers from both the author and guest artists JAE LEE & JUNE CHUNG!
This series continues to lean fully into dream‑logic detective fiction, pushing Kermit’s Flip Minnow alter ego deeper into a shadowy subconscious case. Langridge balances hard‑boiled narration with gentle absurdity, letting the mystery unfold through wit rather than parody overload. Kelly’s colouring continues to sell the noir mood, using stark contrasts and selective colour to heighten both atmosphere and comedy. The series keeps twisting classic genre tropes into something unmistakably Muppets. Smart, stylish, and quietly playful, this is noir with felt and heart.
