After a surprise encounter with the adrenaline-jacked Red Path during their infiltration of the hidden Cardassian facility, the Theseus’ crew must recover the Orb of Destruction-and make it out alive-if they’re to put a stop to Kahless’ bloody reign. But with Captain Sisko standing trial on Cardassia Prime with Commander Data by his side, can his crew succeed when they are divided?
Everyone involved in this series is totally bringing their A game. This series has been a on roll since it started, and the last issue was the best yet with some excellent cameo appearances from the DS9 era. IDW are putting out books that will satisfy long-time Star Trek fans as well as new readers. This book is the perfect mix of intelligence, tension, and fun and it features one of the most interesting crews we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended.

With the fugitive criminal Akris having escaped into Romulan space, Nyota and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise must quickly devise a plan if they’re to prevent an allyship between the agent of chaos from a parallel universe and one of the Federation’s most dangerous enemies.
IDW are on fire with these Star Trek books. I really have a soft spot for the look and feel of the TMP era and this book really hits the spot. The story got off to a great start with some interesting concepts and I hope it is a huge success and IDW revisit this time again once this series has run its course.
Planet of the Apes
Issue 3
Marvel Comics/20th Century Studios
Script – David F. Walker
Art – Dave Wachter
Colours – Bryan Valenza
Letters – Joe Caramagna
Buy digitally on Comixology – Planet of the Apes #3 (Link)
WHAT LIES BEYOND THE SEA? What is a life filled with immense loss and pain? A life watching the world wither away as the ALZ-113 virus consumes humanity? For some, it is an existence of boiling rage that breeds contempt, cruelty and violence. It breeds the Exercitus Viri. As Juliana and Omatete set sail to transfer a thousand apes from the International Simian Research Center in Ghana to the CDC, trouble brews in the seas. Will they be able to make their voyage unscathed and save humanity? Or will the blood-thirsty vengeance of a select few ruin the world’s chance of a cure and with it, survival?
This is a hugely enjoyable book. Some may have found the last issue to slow, but I’m enjoying the world building that has been going on. It’s also been refreshing to have two stories exploring this world. The cover art is phenomenal and the interior art also doesn’t disappoint. Fans of POTA really should be picking this up and anyone curious should give it a try, as Marvel really are doing great stuff with their 20th Century Studio licenses.
Clobberin’ Time
Issue 4
Marvel Comics
Script and Art – Steve Skroce
Colours – Bryan Valenza
Letters – Joe Sabino
Buy digitally on Comixology – Clobberin’ Time #4 (Link)
Ben Grimm has been banished to the bottomless pit of interstitial space between realities. There, he finds an unlikely ally in DOCTOR DOOM. DOOM has also been a victim of the new villain OGDU FRAIZE, the PSYCHOPOMP. Together, they plan their escape with the help of the banished Watcher, TUVAH TU.
You should be buying this book for the covers alone, but you’d also be getting a fantastic romp that sure to elicit a smile from even the most stoney faced comic reader. Five issues just isn’t going to be enough, and Marvel should secure Skroce for as long as they can, because this is definitely one of their best books.
The X-Cellent
Issue 4
Marvel Comics
Script – Peter Milligan
Art – Michael Allred
Colours – Laura Allred
Letters – Nate Piekos

Venus Dee Milo returns! But how does the formerly deceased teleporter play into Zeitgeist’s plan to mutant godhood? The brightest stars always burn out the fastest. And when it comes to Zeitgeist’s infamy, a backstabbing teammate will do just the trick!
LEGACY #9
Still the best mutant title on the block. It’s utter disregard for what’s happening elsewhere in the Marvel Universe is part of what makes this book so enjoyable. If you’ve never sampled the delights of X-Statix before, jump on board and then spend all your money on the huge Omnibus edition and revel in one of the greatest satirical comics of a generation.
X-Men: Red
Issue 12
Marvel Comics
Script – Al Ewing

That being said, the British writers on the other X-books are also doing a bang up job and Al and his team are making Red an essential pick up.
The Amazing Spider-Man

Marvel Comics

Art – Ed McGuinness and Mark Farmer
Colours – Marcio Menyz
Letters – Joe Caramagna

Grief looms over Peter after last issue’s shocking death! Spider-Man’s villains are more than happy to keep him distracted… Your eyes don’t deceive you, DOCTOR OCTOPUS IS BACK!
LEGACY #921
How do you follow THAT issue? You veer left and bring back Doc Ock and Ed McGuinness. Opinions are divided on this run of Spidey, especially because of what happened last issue, but I’m finding myself entertained and
