If you want to send any comics or comic related events we should feature, feel free to reach out to me at keith@geekybrummie.com.
Now on with the comics…
Title: What’s The Furthest Place From Here?
Issue: 5
Publisher: Image Comics
Writer – Matthew Rosenberg
Artist – Tyler Boss
APPROPRIATE-SIZED FIFTH ISSUE! There are fights to be fought, bargains to be struck, and roads to be hit. But when it all comes together, will it be enough to tear the gang apart? Alabama is betting her life that it won’t.
Just keeps getting better. Even with a huge cast, each chapter manages to draw me deeper and deeper in to their lives, and I’m totally invested in seeing how it all plays out. Tyler Boss delivers stellar layouts and art that really drives home the differences between the characters. Weird and fun, this book is well worth adding to your pull list.
Title: Shadowman
Issue: 7
Publisher: Valiant Comics
Writer – Cullen Bunn
Artist – Pedro Andreo
The world has been invaded. The Deadside spills through. Shadowman, Punk Mambo, Alyssa and the Arbettors struggle to keep the horrors of the Deadside at bay, but are they in a losing battle?
I really like this book. The return of Punk Mambo has kicked things up a gear and Cullen Bunn is writing one hell of a tale. Pedro Andreo has really impressed me with some grotesque and vibrant art. If you’re a fan of well done horror books you really need to be picking this one up.
Title: X Lives of Wolverine
Issue: 5
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer – Benjamin Percy
Artist – Joshua Cassara
Colourist – Frank Martin
Letterer – Cory Petit
TIME TO DIE! WEEK 9—OMEGA RED has threatened the past, present and future of mutantkind. Today, WOLVERINE puts an end to it. The unbelievable climax to X LIVES OF WOLVERINE is an experience comic readers won’t soon forget and sets the stage for the ultimate finale!
CONTINUED FROM X DEATHS OF WOLVERINE #4 / CONTINUED IN X DEATHS OF WOLVERINE #5
I know. This book is being picked up by many for the variant covers as they have checked out story wise, but I quite enjoy the big dumb, time travel shenanigans. We know the whole thing won’t really mean a whole hill of beans once the next X-quake hits, but seeing Wolverine do his stuff is always entertaining and Joshua Cassara is doing a bang up job.
Title: Fantastic Four: Reckoning War – Trial of the Watcher
Issue: 1
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer – Dan Slott
Artist – Javier Rodriguez
Letterer – Joe Caramagna
WHAT IF THE WATCHER HAD NEVER INTERFERED?
In all of the Multiverse, there is only one “What If” world that Uatu has avoided watching—one “What If” that he never wished to see. And now it will be revealed—the story that could damn him for all time…and a revelation that could change everything in this universe. Guest starring the Fantastic Four, Galactus and the Silver Surfer.
I’m enjoying the Reckoning War story. It’s pure Fantastic Four craziness, and Dan Slott is being joined by some great artists on these books. It’s great to see characters like The Jack of Hearts and Silver Surfer playing a bigger role in the Marvel Universe again as they’ve always been some of my favourite characters. With a Fantastic Four film due to join the MCU sometime soon, I hope the FF regain their rightful place as the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine.
On the radar this week some other comics not on the Pull List but well worth checking out:
The Silver Coin #10
Image Comics
Writer and Artist – Michael Walsh
Next in THE SILVER COIN, the hit horror anthology from VITA AYALA, JOSHUA WILLIAMSON, RAM V, MATTHEW ROSENBERG, and MICHAEL WALSH, comes a sequel 300 years in the making. Audrey is a high schooler with an unusual ability who’s drawn to the occult. When she encounters the coin, she conducts a ritual meant to break its curse but instead summons something darker still. The coin’s mystery deepens in part two of “Covenant.”
Slumber #1
Image Comics

Artist – Vanessa Cardinali
Nathan Fox Stetson is a nightmare hunter. A dream detective. She runs a shoddy back-alley business where she helps clients sleep at night by entering their dreams and killing their nightmares. But Stetson’s past comes back to haunt her when she tracks down a literal living nightmare – a serial killer that murders people in their sleep. SLUMBER is an ongoing series from the twisted minds of writer TYLER BURTON SMITH (Kung Fury,Child’s Play) and rising-star artist VANESSA CARDINALI.
DC Horror Presents: Soul Plumber #6

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE, FINALE
After five issues of blood, Bible verses, barf, and Blorps, it’s all come down to this. How on Earth will a seminary dropout and his noseless pal save the day? The biblical, bizarre, and sometimes nauseating saga of Edgar Wiggins reaches its biblical, bizarre, and sometimes nauseating conclusion in this final issue that needs to be seen to be believed!
Say HIYA to Giant and Fire
One is an undead super fiend feared for bringing fiery mass death, the other is one of Mega-City One’s most legendary lawman – and they’re the next Judge Dredd figures from Hiya Toys!
Rebellion and Hiya Toys are proud to unveil Judge Fire and Judge Giant – the latest in the brand new range of 1:18 PVC action figures based on the world of Judge Dredd, from the pages of the bestselling comic British comic, 2000 AD!
Originally designed by legendary artist Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke, Camelot 3000), Judge Fire is the final member of the Dark Judges, the alien superfiends from a dimension where all life has been declared a crime. Clothed in eerie, lethal flames and carrying his lethal trident, Fire brings death and destruction everywhere he goes!
Created by John Wagner and Ian Gibson (Halo Jones), on his first appearance in 1977 Giant was a rookie Judge and son of legendary aeroball player John ‘Giant’ Clay. After a rigorous assessment, he was passed to become a full Judge by Dredd, whose life he later saved during the reign of the mad Chief Judge Cal. Tragically, he lost his own life just before The Apocalypse War when he was shot by the Soviet assassin, Orlok – a death that caused outrage amongst readers.
Releasing in the third quarter of 2022, Fire and Giant both come with 16 points of articulation, shoulder and joint pads, and chains and badges of office, Giant comes with a Lawgiver gun and Fire wields his deadly flaming trident. The figures will come shipped in an attractive protective cardboard window box.
They are the next in the brand new range of fully poseable 1:18 figures announced in November 2021, drawing on more than four decades of ground-breaking comic books set in the world of the classic character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra in 1977.
Give Me Toys
Due to pressure on international shipping caused by the pandemic, the Judge Dredd and Judge Death 1:18 figures are now due to ship Q2 2022, Judge Mortis will ship in Q3 and Dredd’s iconic motorbike, the Lawmaster, will be available as a set to order from Q2 2022 and hit shelves in Q4 2022.
The 1:18 line will be followed by a 1:12 (six-inch) line with Judge Dredd (available to order from Q2 2022), Judge Death (available to order from Q3 2022), Judge Fear (available to order from Q3 2022) and Judge Mortis (available to order from Q4 2022).
Jason Kinglsey OBE, CEO of Rebellion, said: “As he is constantly clothed in flames, Judge Fire has always been the figure that has eluded previous lines of Judge Dredd action figures – but Hiya have done a superlative job bringing him to (un)life, so that fans can finally have the full line-up of Dark Judges!
“It’s also wonderful to see a supporting character like Judge Giant turned into a figure. Back in 1981 everyone was so shocked by his sudden yet casual death at the hands of Orlok and he’s such an important figure in the early history of Judge Dredd, so it’s great to see Hiya’s level of commitment in rendering classic characters like him in three dimensions for the first time.”

In Prog-ress
From abstractions of the work of Kevin O’Neill to a vision of life on The Hoop from Halo Jones, art inspired by the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic is due to open in London in late March.
Work by leading graphic artists inspired by 2000 AD’s legendary creators will feature in PROG-RESS, presented by 2000 AD and Carhartt WIP at the Dinner Party Gallery in London.
Hosted at London’s Dinner Party Gallery, PROG-RESS explores the lasting influence of the galaxy’s greatest comic, with original artworks from Ed Davis, Oliver Payne, Mudwig, Leomi Sadler, Skatething, Gasius, Will Sweeney, Ancco, Hans Berger, and Liv Preston.
Originally conceived for Carhartt WIP’s biannual publication WIP magazine, the brand has invited various artists from its network of friends and collaborators to offer their own unique take on the 2000 AD universe. The exhibition will feature a variety of works and formats, including sculpture, painting, and video.
Launched in 1977, 2000 AD created sprawling, multifaceted universes, capable of synthesizing politics, literature, subcultures, and films. Their weekly ‘progs’ were often set in futuristic worlds, but offered subtle critiques of ongoing political and world affairs, delivered alongside unique, arresting visuals.
For many, the title was also their first exposure to some form of countercultural visual art. Since then, 2000 AD has inspired countless artists, both in spirit and form, some of whom are featured in this exhibition. The comic also continues to publish regularly today, both online and in print.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 12noon to 6pm daily, from Friday 25 March until Sunday 10 April at the Dinner Party Galley, 70 Clerkenwell Rd, London EC1M 5QA
