The Twilight Zone #2
IDW PUBLISHING• IDW DARK
By Tom Scioli
Buy from Forbidden Planet – The Twilight Zone #2 (Link)
At the farthest reaches of the galaxy, beyond the horizon of humanity and the hopes for salvation, a spaceship of slumbering astronauts journeys in search of intelligent alien life. They’ve left behind their families, their planet, their pasts, and all the trauma and comforts those things contained. But our crew of adventurers will find their pasts are never that far behind them and intelligent alien life has its own plans for their future… in the Twilight Zone!
From the surreal mind of Tom Scioli, the cartoonist who brought you Jack Kirby, Fantastic Four: Grand Design (Marvel), the Transformers vs G.I. Joe crossover, and Godzilla Monsterpiece Theatre (IDW).
From the visionary artist Tom Scioli, this cosmic tale blends retro sci-fi wonder with unsettling twists, pulling readers into the fifth dimension where reality bends and destiny is never what it seems. This is how you do The Twilight Zone.

Star Trek: The Last Starship #2
IDW PUBLISHING
By Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Adrián Bonilla, Clayton Cowles and Heather Moore
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Star Trek: The Last Starship #2 (Link)
In the wake of the cataclysm known as the Burn, the dream of a united Federation stands on the brink of extinction. The only thing holding the Galaxy back from chaos is Captain Sato and the crew of the Borg-enhanced Omega — a ship fueled by transwarp technology and fraught with distrust.
No one on board trusts the Borg… and Captain Sato trusts their mysterious new passenger, bearing the face and name of James T. Kirk, even less. This so-called Kirk speaks of a dark future, but Sato refuses to be guided by fear or prophecy.
When a distress call from the Klingon Empire pierces the silence — urgent, cryptic, and unexpected — Sato doesn’t hesitate. Whatever the risk, he will answer. Because if Starfleet’s legacy is to survive, it won’t be through retreat. It’ll be through action.
Kelly and Lanzing deliver a gripping continuation of their bold new Trek saga. Bonilla’s art captures the stark beauty of this fractured galaxy, with excelelnt support from Moore and Cowles. This issue balances character drama with sweeping sci-fi spectacle, proving this series is essential for fans craving fresh, daring Trek storytelling.

Hector Plasm: Hunt the Bigfoot #2
IMAGE COMICS
By Benito Cereno, Derek Hunter and Spencer Holt
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Hector Plasm: Hunt the Bigfoot #2 (Link)
Ghost hunter Hector Plasm and Bigfoot expert Lip Dyson delve deep into the woods to track the murderous monster of Monkey Ridge, but each new clue leads them down darker and stranger paths. Curious footprints, bizarre rock formations, and sinister sigils all point to something more than a cryptid infestation.
Cereno ramps up the tension in this second chapter, blending ghost hunting with cryptid chaos. The art team give the Pacific Northwest woods a surreal, unsettling vibe that perfectly matches the escalating mystery. The pacing is sharp, balancing humour with genuine dread, and the dialogue keeps the characters engaging. This issue proves the series isn’t just about Bigfoot—it’s about secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Capes #1
IMAGE COMICS • SKYBOUND
By Robert Kirkman and Mark Englert
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Capes #1 (Link)
LONG OUT-OF-PRINT AND VERY IN-DEMAND! RE-INTRODUCING ROBERT KIRKMAN AND MARK ENGLERT’S CORNER OF THE INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE!
A special remastering of CAPES, featuring new art and dialogue!
BOLT! KID THOR! KNOCK OUT! CAPTAIN COSMIC! CLAIRE VOYANT! BIG BRAIN! COMMANDER CAPITALISM! Welcome to Capes Inc, employers of your favorite super heroes that protect — well, at least when they’re on the clock — New York City from threats like MACHINE HEAD, TITAN… and now are in the crosshairs of an enemy they never expected!
Kirkman and Englert revive a cult classic with a slick remaster that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Set in the Invincible Universe, Capes #1 introduces readers to Capes Inc.—a superhero team that clocks in like any other 9-to-5 job. Englert’s updated art pops with dynamic energy, and the new dialogue tightens the pacing without losing its irreverent charm. Packed with personality, satire, and superhero spectacle, this reintroduction proves Capes is more than a side story—it’s essential Invincible lore.

Final Boss #1
IMAGE COMICS
By Tyler Kirkham, David Miller and Ifansyah Noor
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Final Boss #1 (Link)
From the dynamic creator and artist, Tyler Kirkham (Amazing Spider-Man, Green Lantern), comes a thrilling new action hero: Tommy Brazen in FINAL BOSS! Get ready for an over-the-top adventure that’s a high-octane nod to classic action stories. Trying to forge a new path, Tommy uses his newfound powers for various paid enforcer gigs and street fights, only to uncover a past far more complex than he ever imagined.
From Tyler Kirkham comes a brutal, high-octane saga that fuses nostalgic action with modern grit. With kinetic art by Kirkham and Miller, and vivid colours from Noor, this debut issue delivers bone-crunching combat, power plays, and a twist-laden journey that feels like BRZRKR meets Mortal Kombat by way of Invincible. Prepare for an adrenaline-fueled ride where survival means finishing the fight.

Animal Pound TP
BOOM! STUDIOS
By Tom King, Peter Gross, Clayton Cowles and Tamra Bonvillain
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Animal Pound TP (Link)
When animals grow tired of being caged and abused, it’s only a matter of time before they have nothing to lose but their cages…
When an uprising puts a pound in control of the animals, they make quick comrades, united against everything that walks on two legs. But with this newfound power comes a sudden challenge: how best to lay the groundwork for this new democracy as they write their first constitution.
The conditions are ripe for a dictator, primed for instating a new system of brutality and death. When two groups of animals work together will their efforts be enough to prevent further animal authoritarianism?
Discover a timely graphic storytelling event from celebrated New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King (The Human Target, Love Everlasting) and New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-nominated artist Peter Gross (American Jesus, The Books of Magic), collaborating for the first time ever to bring this enduring Orwellian allegory to life for the 21st Century.
Collects Animal Pound #1-5.
This was one of my favourite books of the past year or so, where King and Gross deliver a haunting, modern reimagining of Orwell’s Animal Farm that feels disturbingly relevant. Collecting all five issues, this trade takes us through the rise and fall of a society built by pound animals—dogs, cats, and rabbits—who overthrow their human captors in pursuit of freedom. King’s writing is dense and novelistic, charting the fragile hope of revolution and the inevitable corruption of power with sharp precision. Gross’s art, paired with Bonvillain’s evocative colors, creates a world that oscillates between warmth and menace, while Cowles’ lettering grounds the narrative’s weighty themes.
Far from a simple homage, Animal Pound interrogates democracy, authoritarianism, and the cyclical nature of oppression, making it one of King’s most ambitious creator-owned works. It’s challenging, poignant, and visually stunning—a must-read for fans of political allegory and thought-provoking comics. Highly recommended.
