Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1
IDW Publishing
By Mikey Levitt and Louie Joyce
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (Link)
New tales of the TMNT based on the newest Ninja Turtles animated series! When Donatello is invited to a prestigious robotics camp for genius kids, he’s excited to rebuild Metalhead and compete for the camp’s prize for best robot. But when the competition goes haywire, Donnie’s forced to wonder who really invited him, and what do they want with Metalhead?
By debut comics writer Mikey Levitt (Tales of the TMNT production team) and neon punk comics artist Louie Joyce (Godzilla: Skate or Die, Haphaven, Past the Last Mountain).
IDW Publishing launches a radical new companion series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, spinning directly out of the hit Paramount+ animated show. Hitting shelves on today, this new series dives deep into the unique world and character dynamics established by the TV show. This debut issue, written by show veteran Mikey Levitt and featuring the dynamic art of Louie Joyce, puts the spotlight squarely on Donatello and his trusty—but currently busted—ally, Metalhead. Don is thrilled to receive an invitation to a prestigious robotics camp, where he intends to rebuild his metallic friend and win the grand prize.
But in the world of the Ninja Turtles, nothing is ever simple. As the high-tech competition spins out of control, Donnie realises the invitation may be a cleverly laid trap. Who is behind the scheme, and what sinister plans do they have for a newly reconstructed Metalhead? Get ready for high-octane action and genius-level intrigue in this must-read series tie-in.

Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks #1
Dark Horse Comics
By Greg Pak, Wilton Santos, Edvan Alves, Raúl Angulo and Nate Piekos
Buy from Forbidden Planet – Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks #1 (Link)
In a time of fickle gods and feckless governors, the world yearns for heroes! What it gets are the Fallbacks — a party of daring, dubious, and dysfunctional adventurers who arrive in the city of Loudwater in search of gold and glory. But an encounter with kobold thieves puts the Fallbacks in the crosshairs of a rival team of deeply annoying local heroes. Will the Fallbacks pull off a heist for the ages? Or will they sacrifice it all to put these “heroes” in their place?
Dark Horse Comics launches a brand new epic fantasy mini-series, Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks #1, hitting stores today. Not every adventure party is destined for glory. Meet “The Fallbacks”: a collection of former heroes whose greatest shared achievement is spectacular failure. There’s Barnaby, a paladin who lost his faith; Zyla, a clumsy wizard whose spells backfire; and Gorok, a barbarian whose bark is far worse than his bite.
Currently scraping by on quests too embarrassing for any proper guild, their latest mission is simple: retrieve a noble’s stolen, slightly ugly, but sentimental chamber pot. This simple retrieval, however, quickly leads them into a cavern crawling with mind-controlling Intellect Devourers and an ancient cult plotting against the entire Sword Coast. Faced with certain doom, The Fallbacks must decide if they are ready to finally rise to the occasion, or live up to their unfortunate name. Can these lovable losers save the day? You’ll have to pick up this issue to find out.

A1 DEADLINE Anthology LAUNCHES OCTOBER 21st!
A1 and DEADLINE, two landmark UK comic book publications ARE BACK! The heart of UK counterculture returns to print.

UK Comic Magazines A1 & DEADLINE Unite on Kickstarter NEXT WEEK. Dave Elliott (Atomeka) and Chris Northrop (Horrible Future) are merging two of the most influential UK comic magazines of the ’90s — A1 and Deadline. Launching next Tuesday on Kickstarter, this 80-page special will feature comics, culture, music, and art from some of the most groundbreaking creators in the industry.
No algorithmic storytelling. No censorship. No compromise. No AI.
Real voices from legends alongside new stories, the book revisits classic material while bridging the anarchic energy of the originals with the next wave of creators pushing the medium forward.
“The last few years have been a hell-hole for creators, publishers, and retailers. So we decided not to take a traditional publisher/distributor route,” says Dave Elliott, co-creator of A1DEADLINE. “Working with Horrible Future and building this Kickstarter ourselves lets us put the artists first, creating a space to make art and tell stories without censorship, in a place where everything between the covers is creator-owned. A place where they can truly feel free. With A1DEADLINE, a new or unknown talent can have their work sandwiched between a TANK GIRL and a Bill Sienkiewicz strip. We’re just here to elevate and amplify. Comics need a magazine like this. Since we started talking to creators, the project has grown massively — beyond anything we could have imagined.”
“This isn’t just a book I’m proud to work on — it’s fearless, loud, and alive,” adds Chris Northrop, the project manager and designer. “A1DEADLINE Special Edition is a place to mouth off, push back, and speak to the world we’re living in, just like DEADLINE did in the ’90s.”
The Artists
A1Deadline Special brings together a powerhouse roster of artists who embody the spirit of countercultural comics. From the heavyweights of British underground style to today’s rising innovators, the project is designed as a showcase of unfiltered creativity.
Shaky Kane (BULLETPROOF COFFIN), Rufus Dayglo (LAST GANG IN TOWN), Alison Sampson (WINNEBAGO GRAVEYARD), Alan Martin (TANK GIRL), Mark A. Nelson (ALIENS/THUNDER HUNTERS), Steve Pugh (HOTWIRE/FLINTSTONES), Ed Hillyer “ILLYA” (DEADLINE, ROMO), Eryk Donovan (MEMETIC), Alice Pasquini (CROSSROADS), and many, many more are to be announced for this special issue in the days leading up to the campaign, which is scheduled for to launch on October 21st 2025.

Inside the Book
This 80-page oversized anthology magazine fuses the DNA of A1 and DEADLINE into a single volume. Inside, readers will find:
● All-new comics from today’s most daring voices
● Classic bangers restored and presented in full colour for the first time
● Comics, articles, and features exploring the intersection of comics, music, and culture
● Over 15 stories to be revealed.
The anthology is structured to echo the chaotic, genre-bending spirit of its roots while introducing modern themes and experimental formats for new audiences.
Inspiration and Conception
A1 (created by Dave Elliott and Garry Leach in 1986, launched in 1989) was a creator-owned playground where names like Moebius, Alan Moore, Eddie Campbell, and Bill Sienkiewicz ran wild.
DEADLINE (created by Brett Ewins and Steve Dillon in 1988) mashed comics, youth culture, and indie music into a punk-fueled magazine that gave the world TANK GIRL.
Both were united in the desire to give artists a platform to express themselves freely and own the fruits of their labour.
Now Elliott and Northrop are reviving these titles for a new generation — not as relics, but as a living, evolving community platform that celebrates both the past and the future of comics counterculture.
