Snotgirl #16
Image Comics
By Bryan Lee O’Malley and Leslie Hung
Buy digitally – Snotgirl #16 (Link)
Snotgirl is back! Now that allergy-suffering fashion influencer Lottie Person is officially in a couple with Caroline, the girl of her dreams, what kind of trouble will they get into next? Find out in this long-awaited new issue, picking up where Snotgirl #15 left off!
Wow, has it really been four and a half years since the last issue? That was quite some hiatus. But Lottie and friends are back baby, and it looks like we have issue scheduled until at least February. If you’re not already a fan all you need to know is Lottie Person, the popular fashion blogger with a severe allergy problem, finds herself further entangled in a web of mystery and paranoia. Bryan Lee O’Malley and Leslie Hung have created a visually stunning and thought-provoking comic, that leaves us eagerly anticipating the next chapter, which we don’t have to wait years for this time.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher #4
IDW Publishing
By Juni Ba, Fero Peniche, Luis Antonio Delgado and Nathan Widick
Buy digitally – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher #4 (Link)
As a new district attorney takes office in New York City, stoking backlash against the acceptance and political progress mutants have been striving for, Nightwatcher is on the hunt for the Mutant Town crime boss Lao Ban. The only lead to Lao Ban is already trying to escape the city, though, and there’s no guarantee he’ll give up the intel Nightwatcher needs. If Nightwatcher can’t persuade him to turn on Lao Ban, the trail will go cold… and they aren’t the only one who’s been tracking down Lao Ban’s loose end.
This book continues to deliver an engaging and action-packed storyline. This issue follows Nightwatcher as they hunt down the elusive Mutant Town crime boss, Lao Ban. Ba’s writing keeps the momentum going, blending intense action sequences with the emotional struggles of the characters. Peniche’s art is a standout, capturing the gritty and dark atmosphere of the Mutant Town, which complements the narrative perfectly, making the issue a thrilling read.
Long Cold Winter #1
Mad Cave Studios
By Francesca Perillo, Stefano Cardoselli, Lorenzo Scaramella and Buddy Beaudoin
Buy digitally – Long Cold Winter #1 (Link)
In the not-too-distant future, the air on Earth has become unbreathable. However, a multinational company called Air Co. has constructed generators that provide oxygen for those who can afford it. Peace Dog, a desperate ex-soldier, who has been willing to do anything to obtain breathable air is haunted by his past and hunted by bounty hunters, though, he may have found a way out of his current predicament by helping a mysterious robot child escape the dangerous and congested city. But, someone from his past has no intention of letting him leave… alive.
This looks to be a captivating and timely story that combines sci-fi elements with a powerful message about environmental responsibility. It’s the artwork that is the big draw for me, as it has the vibe of Ted McKeever, and feels like one of those late 80s underground comics. Fans of dystopian fiction will hopefully find it a compelling read.
The Rocketeer: Breaks Free #4
IDW Publishing
By Stephen Mooney, Staz Johnson, Marko Lesko and Shawn Lee
Buy digitally – The Rocketeer: Breaks Free #4 (Link)
The Rocketeer has gone to Alcatraz in search of the traitor supplying the Nazis with the intel to attack America on her own soil. When he finds that the German invaders have gotten there ahead of him and are weaponizing the prisoners to stop our hero, Alcatraz turns into a battleground as all the opposing forces converge and the fate of America hangs in the balance.
We reach the end of this mini-series that ups the stakes significantly, pitting Cliff against and army of German invaders. This is rip-roaring adventure, that pulp fans should be picking up.
What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #20
Image Comics
By Matthew Rosenberg, Tyler Boss and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Buy digitally – What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #20 (Link)
Sid and the gang have finally escaped the world they grew up in. But the mountains are full of secrets and weird little dudes. And what lies beyond the mountains? Bad $#!%. That’s what.
This issue continues the new story arc titled “A Whole New World” as Boss returns to art duties. Sid and the gang have finally escaped the world they grew up in, but their journey is far from over. This looks to be another fantastic and fascinating issue of one of the most underrated comics on shelves.
Each week we’ll be selecting one unmissable trade paperback, that absolutely must be in your collection.

MEGA CITY COMICS TO CLOSE IN 2o25
It was recently announced that Mega City Comics will close in the new year, so please go and visit now and let them know how much they meant to you. What follows is the official announcement –
“THE END OF AN ERA!
Mega City Comics was established in 1981, and has been operating from our shop in Camden Town since 1987. After 43 years (and 37 years in the same shop), Martin, the owner, is taking retirement, and the shop will be closing at the end of Jan 2025. We had originally hoped to pass on the mantle to a new owner, but a suitable candidate has unfortunately, not been forthcoming (although do read to the end!).
It has been a joyous ride (for Martin, all of his adult life), and we have had some great staff and some great customers (a crazy number who have been here pretty much from the start, and stuck with us throughout). So it is a bitter sweet event to be closing the doors.
The mail-order/standing order service will be winding up at the end of the year, and final parcels will be going out no later than early Jan 25.
GOING OUT WITH A BANG
We are not quite finished yet, and we will be going out with an upbeat BANG!, so if you can make it into the shop over the next two months, there will be some once-in-a-lifetime deals to be had. The back room back issue stores are being opened up, and the shop is bursting to the seams with comic goodness, ranging all the way back to 1940’s Golden Age, through classic Silver and Bronze, and right up to modern day books. We have always offered up a huge range, but for the final run, there is more on show and available than ever before! Fine tune those wants lists, raid the piggy bank, and head on in and fill your boots.
FINAL CLEARANCE SALE
The FINAL CLEARANCE SALE will be launched in early Jan, but we recommend you get in earlier than that, and get your choice pick of everything we have, as there are deals to be had NOW and negotiations to be made!
Dealers, bulk buyers and re-sellers – we will have some clearance offers on excess stock available soon – drop us an email if interested in taking 1,000 plus to 10,000 items. Wholesale inquiries are by invitation only – you can’t just drop in unannounced – but we welcome you registering any interest now.
Whilst we are fully preparing to shut up shop, this is still a profitable and feasible business here, so if there are any last minute inquiries, from a serious party, with a passion comics, a strong business background, and secure funding, we would be happy to discuss the potential possibilities.
We are open 7 days a week, right through mid Jan (closed Dec 25,26,27), and look forward to seeing customers old and new.”
