Now on with the comics…
Unstoppable Doom Patrol
Issue 7
DC Comics
Script – Dennis Culver
Art – Chris Burnham
Colours – Brian Reber
Letters – Pat Brosseau
Buy digitally on Comixology – Unstoppable Doom Patrol #7 (Link)
General Immortus stands victorious against the Doom Patrol and has now set his sights on nothing less than world domination! The team’s only hope for salvation is asking for help from one of their greatest enemies, but only if Immortus doesn’t get to them first! Everything’s been leading to these final moments and a happy ending is not guaranteed.
Unfortunately, this is the final issue of this excellent run of Doom Patrol. Culver, Burnham, Reber and Brosseau have really breathed new life in to the team and I hope DC realise how much this book means to people, and renew it for another run soon. I’ve loved every issue and I hope you will pick it up and tell DC we want more.
Star Trek
Issue 13
IDW Publishing
Script -Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing
Art – Angel Unzueta
Buy digitally on Comixology – Star Trek #13 (Link)
Captain Benjamin Sisko’s quest to defeat the killer of gods is at an end, and the Prophets beckon him home to the Celestial Temple. He’s earned his rest, but when Starfleet requests his help to stop a familiar foe, the Tzenkethi Coalition, from launching the largest fleet in their history, Sisko and the Theseus’ crew set out once again to save the galaxy. But there’s a reason this species of spiritually rich, reptilian lizard birds has twice defeated Starfleet in battle. They’re xenophobic, ruthless, and innovative… and confronting them on their home turf, a planet thought to be an organism itself, is as good a death sentence as any.
The main Star Trek moves on to it’s next story arc after the events of Day of Blood. It’s exciting to see where this creative team take the crew of the Theseus next. If you’re a fan of Star Trek, then these IDW books should definitely be on your pull list.
TMNT x Stranger Things
Issue 4
IDW Publishing/Dark Horse Comics
Script – Cameron Chittock
Art – Fero Peniche
Colours – Sofie Dodgson
Letters – Rus Wooton
Buy digitally on Comixology – TMNT x Stranger Things #4 (Link)
Demodogs have overrun the city! New Yorkers are being rounded up like cattle! The only hope of salvation? Four talking Turtles and six schoolchildren on a class field trip. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Hawkins kids convene on Times Square to send the Upside Down back to the Upside Down! But can they face something this big and walk away? Don’t miss the conclusion to this year’s strangest crossover!
This has been a super fun series. The original comics Turtles and the kids from Hawkins have really gelled well and I won’t be adverse to them finding another reason to get together.
Void Rivals
Issue 5
Image Comics
Script – Robert Kirkman
Art – Lorenzo De Felici
Colours – Patricio Delpeche
Letters – Rus Wooton
Buy digitally on Comixology – Void Rivals #5 (Link)
EXPLORE THE ENERGON UNIVERSE! When Darak and Solila’s return to the Sacred Ring doesn’t go as planned, a new danger enters their lives!
Can I say it, well I will, I think this book is up there with Saga. This book is not just an cheap excuse to kick start the Energon Universe, it’s a compelling story in its own right, with some wonderful characters and excellent world building. Oh, and it looks incredible too.
Power Girl
Issue 2
DC Comics
Script – Leah Williams
Art – Eduardo Pansica and Julio Ferreira
Colours – Romulo Fajardo Jr.
Letters – Becca Carey
Buy digitally on Comixology – Power Girl #2 (Link)
OUT OF METROPOLIS, ON A ROAD TRIP! As a Kryptonian virus rapidly spreads along the coast, Power Girl departs Metropolis looking to redeem herself for her catastrophic mistakes. It’s not easy being a part of the Super-Family, but Paige has never let the pressure get to her before. She just needs something to punch. And she’s found her target in space pirate and hater of all who hail from Krypton: Amalak!
I throughly enjoyed issue one and I’m loving this resurgence of Kara. Williams really seems to have a handle on the character and I hope new readers are discovering what a important part of the Super-Family she is. Often misunderstood, this new Power Girl series will hopefully put this wonderful character back in peoples pulls.
Alpha Flight
Issue 3
Marvel Comics
Script – Ed Brisson
Art – Scott Godlewski
Colours – Matt Milla
Letters – Travis Lanham
Buy digitally on Comixology – Alpha Flight #3 (Link)
WHO IS NEMESIS?! You thought ALPHA FLIGHT #1 packed some surprises? Wait until you get a load of issue #3! As GUARDIAN, PUCK, SNOWBIRD and SHAMAN make a difficult decision about their future, a startling revelation shocks ALPHA FLIGHT and changes the course of FANG, AURORA and NORTHSTAR’s secret mission! Who is the new NEMESIS?!
Alpha Flight are a criminally underrated part of the Marvel Universe. Often living in the shadow of the X-Men, this book really shines a light on what makes them such strong characters in their own right. Hopefully after Fall of X, the team will get to return as an ongoing series, because these five issues will not be enough for this fan.
The Immortal Thor
Issue 3
Marvel Comics
Script – Al Ewing
Art – Martín Cóccolo
Colours – Matt Wilson
Letters – Joe Sabino
Buy digitally on Comixology – The Immortal Thor #3 (Link)
THOR IN THE WILDERNESS! As Toranos hunted him across the stars, the Odinson found himself trapped—marooned in a puzzle the size of a planet. In this place, the All-Father’s crown—and even his own godly strength—availed him nothing. What power, then, would save him? This is the story of THE IMMORTAL THOR…and the time of the Trickster’s Test.
LEGACY #764
I made the mistake of reading The Immortal Hulk as digital trades. There is something so exciting about reading this book as a monthly issue. Al Ewing is doing something magnificent here with the God of Thunder. This is a big, bold, and breathtakingly beautiful book that is destined to become an epic.
The Amazing Spider-Man
Issue 36
Marvel Comics
Script – Zeb Wells
Art – Ed McGuinness and Mark Farmer
Colours – Marcio Menyz
Letters – Joe Caramagna
Buy digitally on Comixology – The Amazing Spider-Man #36 (Link)
Spider-Man has never gone this dark. Now the consequences are unraveled. Will New York ever look at him the same way again?
LEGACY #930
Great cover. Guess this issue will wrap up a few loose end before we move on to Gang War.
What’s The Furthest Place From Here?
Issue 15
Image Comics
Script – Matthew Rosenberg
Art – Tyler Boss
Buy digitally on Comixology – What’s The Furthest Place From Here? #15 (Link)
“WHERE’S THE DOG?
Prufrock, Mallory, and Merrill find out just how far you have to run to get away from your old problems. They also find out how easy it is to get new problems. But at least they’ve got a dog.”
After the shock ending to the last issue, it looks like we’re not going to get a resolution here as we shift focus to other characters. This is a book that continues to surprise and I’ve really invested in what happens to these kids. And we also get another lovely cover.
On the Radar, these are comics I’ve not got on my physical Pull List, but are books I’ll pick up digitally or in trades:
Conan the Barbarian #4
Titan Comics
Script – Jim Zub
Art – Roberto De La Torre
Colours – Dean White
Letters – Richard Starkings
Buy digitally from Comixology – Conan the Barbarian #4 (Link)

However, a mysterious scout rides in to warn the Cimmerians of an imminent threat on the march from the Pictish wilderness. Will CONAN and his new ally be able to hold off this new horde of invaders?
Gargoyles #10
Dynamite
Script – Greg Weisman
Art – George Kambadais
Buy digitally on Comixology – Gargoyles #10 (Link)
Brooklyn’s attempts to lead the Clan have left him feeling disappointed and estranged from those he is closest to. But when news of a kidnapping comes in, it’s up to Brooklyn, Lexington, and Broadway to save the day. Can they come together in time to make the daring rescue? Or will daybreak stop them in their tracks?
Giant Robot Hellboy #1
Dark Horse Comics
Script – Mike Mignola
Art – Duncan Fegredo
Colours – Dave Stewart

Buy digitally on Comixology – Giant Robot Hellboy #1 (Link)
Hellboy is kidnapped and hooked up to a massive mecha-Hellboy for a mission on a mysterious, faraway island, but the island might just put up a fight of its own. Inspired by Mignola’s viral-hit pencil drawings from Mike Mignola: The Quarantine Sketchbook, Giant Robot Hellboy gets his own story in this 3-part miniseries from Mignola and longtime Hellboy artist Duncan Fegredo!
