The Geeky Brummie Pull List with X-Force
It’s a small but perfectly formed Pull List for you this week. Our Comic of the Week is X-Force from Marvel Comics. The other comics on the main pull list come from Marvel Comics too. Our On The Radar selection includes 3 new comics from Image Comics, Marvel Comics and IDW Publishing. In MEANWHILE... some actual comic news from San Diego Comic Con.
If you want to send any comics or details of any comic related events we should feature, feel free to reach out to me at keith@geekybrummie.com or comics@geekybrummie.com
Now on with the comics…
X-Force
Issue 1
Marvel Comics
Script – Geoffrey Thorne
Art – Marcus To
Colours – Erick Arciniega
Letters – Joe Caramagna
Buy digitally from Comixology/Kindle – X-Force #1 (Link)
A NEW PATH FORGED! The world is fractured. FORGE uses his powers of invention to devise the only fix: an all-new, all-different X-FORCE! Forge leads a custom-made, handpicked team of mutants — RACHEL SUMMERS, BETSY BRADDOCK, SAGE, SURGE and introducing TANK — in off-the-books missions so dire, so integral to the fate of the Marvel Universe, there’s no time to stop for permission! As Forge detects increasing threats across the planet, he will recruit a specialist for each target — first up: that regenerating degenerate, DEADPOOL! Be here for an X-Force like you’ve never seen them before, stick around to see who joins, who lives, who dies and uncover the mystery of Forge’s discovery!
LEGACY #291
Geoffrey Thorne and Marcus To ignite a fresh chapter for X-Force with issue #1, delivering a promising start to a new era for the team. Thorne’s script introduces a revamped X-Force under the leadership of Forge, a refreshing choice that brings a unique dynamic to the group. The use of Deadpool as a guest star will certainly bring readers to the book, but I’m more interested in the inclusion of Betsy Braddock and how her membership in the team impacts her role as Captain Britain.
The Immortal Thor
Issue 13
Marvel Comics
Script – Al Ewing
Art – Jan Bazaldua
Colours – Matt Hollingsworth
Letters – Joe Sabino
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – The Immortal Thor #13 (Link)
ENTER: HERCULES! The son of Zeus sought Thor out — for Toranos’ wheel had turned for the Olympians too, and two Gods together might solve such a mystery. The trail took them to a wasteland of snow and ice… to terror and treachery… and to an old foe of Hercules, at the height of her dread power. New series artist JAN BAZALDUA draws the story of the IMMORTAL THOR… and the Night Mother’s vengeance. PLUS: PART 5 OF DEADPOOL/WOLVERINE: WEAPON X-TRACTION!
LEGACY #774
Immortal Thor #13 brings a fresh dynamic to the series by pairing Thor with none other than Hercules. The icy landscape provides a striking backdrop for this godly duo, with the creative team effectively capturing the raw power and camaraderie between the two iconic characters.
The Amazing Spider-Man
Issue 54
Marvel Comics
Script – Zeb Wells
Art – Ed McGuinness, Mark Farmer, Wade Von Grawbadger and Mark Morales
Colours – Marcio Menyz
Letters – Joe Caramagna
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – The Amazing Spider-Man #54 (Link)
THE MIND-BLAZING CONCLUSION OF “EASY BEING GREEN!” The SINISTER SIX will try to fight. But they should have run. Who can possibly put a stop to Peter Parker’s spree of mayhem and destruction? (Hint: No one).
LEGACY #948
Zeb Wells ramps up the tension as Peter Parker, under the influence of the Green Goblin serum, becomes a force of unchecked chaos. The Sinister Six, themselves no strangers to villainy, are utterly outmatched by this new, monstrous Spider-Man.
On the Radar, these are comics I’ve not got on my physical Pull List, but are books I’ll pick up digitally or in trades:
Saga #67
Image Comics
Script – Brian K. Vaughan
Art – Fiona Staples
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – Saga #67 (Link)
SAGA returns for its epic 12th season as 12-year-old Hazel embarks on the most important adventure of her young life.
Fantastic Four #22
Marvel Comics
Script – Ryan North
Art – Ivan Fiorelli
Colours – Jesus Aburtov
Letters – Joe Caramagna
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – Fantastic Four #22 (Link)
ONE LAST HOPE! Alicia Masters and Reed Richards — and the survivors of New York — are lost, alone against the vampire menace, and Reed’s exhausted. But they still need to survive — and avoid being turned into undead blood parasites. Reed has one last desperate hope, and it’s not guaranteed to work — but there is at least a chance… if he can survive long enough to test it! This conclusion to our BLOOD HUNT tie-in ends in a twist that you will NOT want to miss! PLUS: PART 3 OF DEADPOOL/WOLVERINE: WEAPON X-TRACTION!
LEGACY #715
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White & Green #3
IDW Publishing
Script – Jock, Dom Reardon, Dave Wielgosz, Carlos Giffoni and Cameron Chittock
Art – Jock, Dom Reardon, Riley Rossmo, Alexis Ziritt and Michael Shelfer
Letters – Shawn Lee and Nathan Widick
Buy digitally on Comixology/Kindle – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White & Green #3 (Link)
Our two-color celebration continues! Marvel at new stories featuring the TMNT in their classic black-and-white style but with a touch of green, because we like keeping it fresh that way.
Joining us for this round are superstar creators Jock (Gone, Batman: One Dark Knight), Cameron Chittock (TMNT/Stranger Things), Dave Wielgosz (Man-Bat), Riley Rossmo (Harley Quinn), rock-and-roll artist Alex Ziritt, and more!
